We had been using skype to make calls back and forth from St. Catharines to Mississauga (LD) but now its no longer free.

Is there any alternatives now that offer a similar option for free for a limited time? Only need it to about May.

If you need to call a normal phone while on the computer, I don't know of any free options. However, skype's service is still insanely cheap: $15USD / year. If its just two of you using it to call each other, you can just buy one account and share it (i.e. only one of you will be logged onto skype to make the LD call at any given time) -- although I dont know if this is against their terms of service...

there is yahoo messenger that works just like skype, for low volume users, it is only US$0.01 per minute to US & Canada. They also have a phone-in but no Canadian number available.
