I would like to if DDR2 memory should be run at 1T or 2T. The reason I am asking is because my memory timings were reset to 5-5-5-15 2T when I did a BIOS flash on evga 680i and since have stayed there even on my P5B-Deluxe. I do manually set them to their defaults of 4-5-4-11 but I leave 2T as it is because 1. I dont know and 2. I dont know.:o

I was just reading that "having 4x512s is bad because you risk running the 2T command rate". So does that mean memory should be run at 1T? I also found the crazy Dominators' which cost nearly 750$ but are PC-8888 on DC and it their timings are 4-4-4-12-2T & another pair of Doms' which costs 550$ but is PC-9136 with the following timings: 5-5-5-15-2T. They both run at 2T yet all the review websites praise the crazier Doms as the best memory to date.
I probably won't gather enough dough to buy the crazy dom's but I'm pretty sure I can pull of the slower timings ones. But my question is:

ready?

Since I have 2x512s and I'm looking for another pair making 2GB (4x512s). So if having 4x512s run at 2T is "bad", would it make sense to upgrade to 2x1GBs that run at 2T anyway? Or does all memory run at 2T be default?

Merci

1T is faster then 2T. Not much faster though, and not much visible performance difference.

If you run 4x512 MB modules, you'll need to run in 2T timings mode. If you already have 2x512 and don't have extra money you don't know what to spend on, just run in 2T with another 2x512.

So, the default for 2 sticks is 1T?

Also would DDR2-1142 @ 5-5-5-15 be more CPU overclockable then DDR2-800 @ 3-4-3-9? They both bear identical prices. In practice, wouldn't I be able to downclock DDR2-1142 -> DDR2-800 and change the timings to 3-4-3-9? But I'm unsure that at 1:1 500FSB DDR2-800 would run at 1000MHZ even with relaxed timings. That's why I'm opting for higher clocked ram, in which I would hopefully bring down to like 4-5-5-12 if I run it at 1000MHZ, right?

Set it to 1T, unless u experience instability.
