How to find the LCD panel manufacturer?

I just bought a Dell 1907FP LCD monitor. I've read that Dell is using two different panel manufacturers for this model (AUO and Samsung), how do I know which one I have?

Use a H/W detector program. It may help you as it reads the LCD's rom and provides you with manufacturing date/id/name/...

Dell provides consumer access to a hidden service menu providing more advanced information and settings, such as the full model number, monitor chip-set, total time used and advanced color options. This menu can be accessed as follows:

1. Powering off your screen
2. Holding down MENU and + buttons while powering it on
3. Release those buttons and enter the MENU
4. Select FACTORY RESET
5. Scroll down to FACTORY

Did it give you the panel manufacturer information? I haven't receive my 1907FP yet, so I could'nt try this.

I mentioned this on last year's thread when this LCD was $269 during the dell deals .. the AUO panels looked better than the Samsung ones for me, eventhough everyone else said otherwise. The Samsung one was yellowish, while the AUO had nice colours and white is actually white (which i am still using now). I set them side by side on DVI, the AUO did have "bleeding?" along each of the four edges when the screen had a black background, but otherwise was much easier to look at and seemed to have sharper text. I had 4 panels in total, two AUO and two Samsung. I kept 3, and returned one of the Samsung.

Without a proper hardware calibration you won't get an applies-to-apples comparison. Everything I've read suggests that a Samsung S-PVA (assuming it is S-PVA) will be better than an AU Optronics MVA or TN panel.

Yeah, I already tried configuring them already. I had other Samsung LCD's that also seemed more "yellowish" than this AUO one. I know everyone who bought one also mentioned their Samsung was better. I bought two of them at separate times so i doubt mine were defects .... :confused:

MVA and TN of course are inferior.

Just got my 1907fp today. Man, this thing is huge compared to my old 17" CRT!

I've played a couple games and there is no ghosting whatsoever. I am totally satisfied with my purchase so far.

Finally, I have the Samsung LTM190EX V4T05 panel in it.
