just got the wrt54gl router
got it upstairs
and the computer downstairs will not connect.
the adaptor is a DLINK air plus g dwl-gl22 usb on computer 2
i put in security setting and it wont connect to internet.



upstairs router 1 basement

computer 1 computer 2
wired to --wrt54gl-------------dlink airplus usb adapter

its not connecting. not sure what i'm missing.

networking solved .
just need help with firmware now.

sorry i finally figured it out
started with the computer downstairs.
reset router.
then out in security setting basement computer and now seems like everythings is working
thanks.

anyone know the differences between the firmware upgrades for this router
wrt54gl
dd-wrt and hyper are the two most popular firmware but I dont know the differences.
can someone help.

If this is the GL router why dont you change the firmware on it to http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php

Use the newest version.

Wil make it into a 600.00 router , thats why you bough the GL right?

whats the dif between ddwrt and the hyper firmwares
I am stuck at which one to pick.
No one has answered any questions I have.

Im using v4.71.1, Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c on my router. It works the best.

Hyper is basically a power booster with limited additional features.

Quote from their website:
HyperWRT is a power boost firmware for the Linksys WRT54G and WRT54GS router. The goal of this project is to add a limited set of features to the last Linksys firmware, extending its possibilities but staying close to the official firmware.

dd-wrt is more (probably the most) full featured.

Here's a comparison chart. Its dated July 2005 but it must have been updated recently because it lists the latest versions of Hyper and DD.

You need to ask yourself, what features do you need/want? Are you easily confused by a lot of settings and prefer to see minimal options or do you want everything under the sun?

I never said it was 5 days for Red Flag , or for you or anyone
I basicly said I have looked and looked and couldnt find this info.
I googled, wiki, different forums and searchs for days.
but only one person pointed me to the info i needed.
