I see that Dell is selling their Dimension E521 for $399 with free shipping, but man the MB lacks expansion slots. There's like:

PCI: 2 Slots
PCIe x1: 1 Slot
PCIe x16 (Graphics): 1 Slots

Does anyone know if there's a better deal on a basic system? Can you delete the Windows OS as an option from a Dell order to save some money?

Here's an off-lease unit (Pentium 4 2.0 ghz) for $240:

Unfortunately, it's a slim desktop model with few slots as well. I guess it would suffice for my intended purposes, but I would like something with more expandability.

Hmm here's one for $300

Anything better out there for a cheap HTPC?

Well cheap and expandible at least! >:( If that $400 Dell had a couple more PCI slots, I'd be happy as a clam. I'm not expecting a top of the line HTPC - just something to mess around with a bit.
