That was always their PM policy even back in the 150% PM days. It was match the price then take off 10% of the difference (or 50% back in 150% days). It's definitely not 10% off the competitiors price. :lol:

In total I was using 2 x 16 digit coupons. And when I called Staples to ask why I couldn't use both the CSR explained that I can only use 1 type of 16-digit coupon, regardless of the fact both coupons were UNUSED and totally unique codes.

The coupon I got from Weedboy was the same "type" of 16-digit coupon, he stated that if the first 3 or 4 digits of the coupon are the same, chances are they are the same "type" of 16 digit coupon and your order will NOT go through. I don't have any experience in stacking 16-digit coupons and I don't know if this was the case in the past, but apparently they are cracking down on stacking 16-digit coupons.

I decided to cancelled my order... didn't really need what I was buying anyways.

Case 1: DUPLICATE 16 and 5 digit coupons
If there are any 16 digit coupons that have the first 5 digits (see first post for more explanation) the same as 5 digit coupons, then the order will not go.

example:

5 digit coupon = 80492
16 digit coupon = 8049 2012 3456 7890

Case 2: DUPLICATE 16 digit coupons
If you have any 16 digit coupons that have the same first 5 digits

example:

16 digit coupon = 8049 2012 3456 7890
16 digit coupon = 8049 2987 6543 2109

In case 1, the system will not accept it, but from my experience case 2 will go through (you can complete your online order) but you will get an email very shortly saying your order is on hold because one of your coupons can not be applied.

My point being, check the first 5 digits of any of your codes. if you see them in the first 5 digits of any other coupon, then your order will not go through.

From my experience that I've had, yes that's how they blocked my order for Case 2.

I know Case 1 didn't work because I tried it a few days ago. I had a 16-digit with the same first 5 digits as a 5 digit coupon. Either one would go through, but not together, hence I came to my conclusion. Also I read S. Chan first post about how 16-digit coupons are constructed which lead me further to that conclusion.


How are 16-digit coupons attached to a newsletter subscribed e-mail or Dividends account number?
The first five digits is the coupon code. The following ten digits is your Dividneds account number or a unique string of numbers that identifies the e-mail you used to subscribe to the Staples newsletter. The last digit is a filler to make 16 digits.


On a side note, I'm sure you can get by these online system exceptions by doing a phone order and telling a CSR the coupon codes as oppose to doing it online.

in case you didn't know, the generic codes can only be used once per acct. once code has been used on your acct., their system can detect that you've already used it, and hence won't allow re-use.

I had same situation before. Cause their computer system can't detect whether order is cancelled. To reuse the coupon, you need to call them to reapply the coupon. Just tell them the old order number to verify it's cancelled so they can manually reapply coupon to your new order.

This is in the FAQ in the FIRST POST (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4447686&postcount=1). You're only entitled to one of those coupons. To use both, you'd have to be spending $350. Think about it. It wouldn't make sense if you could just keep adding coupons until you weren't paying anything.
