what do you do when you leave your car?
take it out with you? leave it on the dash? put it some where safe?
after reading GPS unit thread on Hot deal and hacking, it got me very interested. but it seems very unpractical if I have to remove it everytime I leave the car. same reason I never bothered with aftermarket CD deck and just using ugly stock

Leave it in the car at all times, unless ofcourse the car is going for servicing or garage. Then again, i have mine neatly tucked and not attached to the dash or windshield.

The only other time i take mine out is when i need to move it from one car to another.

I don't have a GPS unit, but if it were me, I don't need the GPS unit for my everyday commutes. I'd probably only bring it along if I was going on road trips and such.

I use my cell phone with a bluetooth GPS receiver :) Works well and doesn't take up much space at all.

I usually put it in the glove compartment when I leave the car, just to keep it out of sight. Less tempting to would-be thieves.
