Hope I can get an answer in here...

I just received my HD PVR today. After I completed the setup, My program is showing wide screen but the on screen tv guide is still SD size (with 2 grey bars on the left and right). Did I do something wrong during the setup?

Wish someone here own the HD PVR can give me a hand, thanks in advance...

HD content that is true 16:9 (widescreen) will contain a flag that causes the screen to be displayed in full widescreen. When you are watching SD content the 4:3 format will be displayed and you will see the bars on the left and right hand side.

You can use the digital PVR remote or setup screen to manually fill the screen or you may have an option with your TV that auto zooms when displaying 4:3 content. I have a setting on my TV that allows me to set the default 4:3 mode. I have it set to Full so that when a program is 4:3 my TV fills the screen, when the content is 16:9 is displays as intended.

to answer your question: no, you did not do anything wrong. the tv guide is 4:3 ratio and will have the bars on the sides. It might be possible to get rid of the bars if you ONLY enable 480p stretched mode and disable all other resolutions. You would have to disable all other resolutions because by default the guide is shown in the highest resolution possible and therefore will have bars on the sides if you leave a HD resolution available.

You can choose the resolution(s) you wish to be displayed by accessing the config menu by powering the unit off then holding the GUIDE and INFO buttons at the same time on the set-top box. Just use trial and error but in my trials I found that you have to have the bars on the guide if you want to have an HD resolution available.
