Comic store clearance: 40-60% off comics, graphic novels, toys, models, etc.(SW Ont.)

Now & Then Books in Kitchener, Ontario is doing a clearance of everything currently in the store.

According to their sign:
Marvel/DC graphic novels: 40% off
All other graphic novels: 50% off
Discount comics: 50 cents to $1
All other comics & magazines: 50% off
Everything else (toys, models, DVDs, t-shirts): 60% off

An additional 5% off if you pay cash (and there's a CIBC a block away).

Much of what was there was a bit picked-over, but I still was able to find a big pile of stuff to buy, even though I'm not much into comics. A lot of the graphic novels are obscure independent stuff that I've never heard of.

Now & Then Books has been around since 1971, making it the oldest continuously-running comic shop in Canada (some sources say the world). Its late founder, Harry Kremer, has an award named after him (the Harry Kremer Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Retailer award)... Dave Sim, creator of Cerebus, worked at Now & Then as his only-ever "real job".

No. (Well, except for http://www.sentex.ca/~dvanhorn/, but that just shows a picture of the store.) This is pretty much just a B&M operation, it hasn't changed a whole lot in the couple decades I've been going there. Think of The Android's Dungeon from The Simpsons, or Silver Snail or The Beguiling in Toronto, and you'll have the idea...

My son works at a CD and Vinyl store down the street. He went with his younger brother this morning and they got quite a bit with some Christmas money they received. Altogether, they got 4 graphic novels, about 20 "civil war" comics (I guess this is Super Heros vs. other Super Heros) and since they are Transformer nuts they picked up a Armada Transformer.:cheesygri
We have been going to this location for years. They have always been really great with putting away issues for my sons when they were into a particular comic line, etc.
My understanding is this particular sale will end December 31 but then there will be another clearance sale next month (according to my son)

I have only been once but it is surely one of the great comic shops in Canada, and the world for that matter. As a huge Cerebus fan from way back, this would really be sad if it is the case.
