This deal is somewhere between warm and hot. I know a guy at work with one of these and I'd say it's the best laptop mouse I've ever seen. Can't ever recall seeing it this cheap either. Pretty sure Dell has no ship charges on this too.

what does it mean battery lasts up to one year? because that sounds impossible unless you don't use the mouse at all.
my wireless logitech v200 needs a battery change every 2 months from intensive usage.

I was going to buy this a BB for $59.99 today... it look that good. Luckily I didn't.
The USB adapter sticks out only like 1.5 cm (others average like 4 cm) and its a laser mouse.
I still think this is a hot deal.

That's why Logitech includes this in the fine print:
"**Battery life may vary depending on usage". :)
Compared to v200, v450 (like v270, v500, etc.) does come with a battery-saving on-off switch.

Same here - this mouse is great! It was a big improvement over the crappy V400 which had so many tracking problems especially on a black surface.

Dell did state everything on their site = free shipping until Dec. 31. After Dec. 31, who knows:?:
You really should take a look at the VX, its probably the best mouse on the market right now (laptop, not desktop).
http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=CADHS1&sku=A0718470
But i do agree, this is a hot deal considering the vx is selling for 99.99 (lowest i've seen = 59.99 from various sells) while this mouse is going for 29.99. The difference between the 2 mouse isnt big but the price is.

I am using vx now, it's not that great, but it's damn expensive. cheap built compare to other logitech model i have. Fit and finish is not as perfect as m518, chubby movement during critical moment in ranking online game frustrated me.

The mouse should be fine for either a laptop or desktop. Generally, unless you have small hands, you might want to consider a larger mouse for desktop. But if it is comfortable for you, then go for it :)

My hand and arm hurts for the first 4 days of using the vx, which is about the same size as this one, you just have to get use to it.
I would suggest a bigger mouse if it's for desktop.

I bought this mouse for $29 at the last Dell days too.
Very good mouse, battery is going strong.
Still the smallest USB receiver on the market. :!:
But my only complaint is that Dell has only the CARBON colour (dark grey) and not the silver one in the picture. I wanted the silver one cause it would have matched with my Dell Lappy. But the carbon one is still very nice.
Pick it up.. A very good buy.
OOpps.. I meant Graphite.. Graphite is the darker colour and that's the one they have at Dell.

I like using it for web surfing on my laptop thats about it. Its small, compact, and has the back/forward buttons. For gaming, G7 and G5 are by far the best mouse (i tried mx rev and didnt like it, but never tried to game with the vx... the option to change the refresh rate gives a big adventage in almost any FPS that has a scope).

Thanks, ordered one for my mac mini, I figure it'll improve the tracking over my old LX300 mouse...and I can't justify paying more than double for the VX revolution.

Tracking is not that good on dark surface, it wouldn't work at all on my laptop cart while my VX Rev tracks fine, also eats battery faster, one AA last about 2-3 weeks on daily use patern
board123

Tracking for the V400 is bad, period. I bought one a couple months ago and the tracking feels like the touchpad on your laptop. It doesn't have that "point and click" feel like other mice. The cursor would feel like it's smoothly floating around.

I kinda got lost with the tracking discussion in a few of the posts :o
So, do you notice any issues with tracking? Does it lag behind when you move the mouse, or is it very very responsive to your every movement? What about when you let the screen's screensaver activate - does a slight movement of the mouse immediately get registered by the receiver? Sorry that I have to ask all these questions, but I've gone through a few mice where the lag was unbearable and have since abandoned them and wasted $$ on them.

I read from a couple people here that they had some tracking issues with the V400... The V450 seems fine, I didn't notice any.
The installation gave me some grief though.
Is anyone else getting this?
- Kept saying something about the Microsoft Logo not validated or something like that.... but I installed it by ignoring this.
- And every time I restart my computer it says new hardware detected

I successfully PMed this at Best Buy for $26.99+tax. Seems like a good value for the price. I was surprised at how tiny it actually is, but the size doesn't seem to be an issue so far and it's working well. And as mentioned above you can easily program the tilt to compensate for the lack of designated FWD/BACK buttons.

I think its better to order it at Dell and get it delivered for free.
No need to waste money on gas and time it takes to pricematch, all that to save $5 is not worth it IMO (opportunity cost) But whatever floats your boat :D
Some people live close to Futureshop and thus don't waste gas. Others want the product in their hands right away. In addition, many of us use futureshop giftcards which give us another 20 percent off. Thus, I save 10 dollars off the dell price and have the mouse at my home right now.

Anyone know what is the sensitivity of this mouse (i.e. the DPI)?
It feels the same as my 800 dpi Logitech Mediaplay mouse in terms of movement.

I love this mouse. Been using it for a couple of weeks now (I think). It's small, the USB dongle is small and stores away after use, automatically shutting the mouse off. If I'm putting the notebook on standby for a while, the mouse has a separate independent power button too. The sensitivity is great, so is the accuracy. I've used it on a leather sofa, fabric sofa, jeans leg, tile floor, cardboard box, glass table top, and a whole whack of other surfaces. The mouse chugs along on all surfaces without discrimination. Can't comment on battery life yet, will let you know... in a year. :)

well i went to FS at downtown, I log in my account to show that shipping is free, but they said is below their cost, so i just order one right there, infront of him. I am not going to waste time arguing for $5. well i should thank them for the internet...
I use to have an v400, and its rubbish, both senstivity and accuracy, sucks, (compare both to my mx700 and lx7) hope the v450 have improve on that.
anyone know whats the dell return policy?

Ok, I've tried this mouse for about an hour since I got it last night, and I can say that it is an excellent mouse. It tracks very well; there is no lag; is a good size for a laptop user; "expected" 1 year battery life; super small USB receiver (it does not interfere with my wireless network). If you get it, you'll be happy with it.
