Does anyone know where I can pickup a set of component cables for the Wii ? Preferably an alternative to the $49.99 one from futureshop or bestbuy.

Thanks

Why? I got the same ones FS is selling at $49.99 on Ebay completely shipped for $20CDN. Same cable! Only took 3 days from California.

Screw the B&M stores for this stuff as they are gouging big time!

I saw a "Blaze" 30 dollar Wii component cable at Game Centre (On Danforth near Pape) a few days ago

Then go to any FS or BB and drop $60 for a $10 cable if you can't wait 4 days.

Seriously, the question was if there was an alternative in the GTA for component cables that I can pickup locally. If you do not know of any, then please don't bother responding. I do not like getting things shipped, and that is my preference. If you prefer to get cables via shipping, then that's all good. Do not impose your preferences onto others.

Which one? I went to the one at Markville Mall. They had one for $39.99. Not sure of the brand.

The same one being sold at bestbuy for $49.99 is being sold at EB for $39.99 and at Walmart for $34.99. I picked it up at Walmart so I don't have to wait for shipping. Check Walmart, I waited on buying it for a few days until I finally got 3 extra wiimotes and they were still available at the same walmart.

Wanna list your source for four days shipping that won't end up costing the same as BB/FS. Thanks for put up or shut up.

Sorry, I'm from BC... perhaps I was out of place replying in this thread, but I assumed that if one EB carried these cables that they all would. Maybe they just haven't arrived at the GTA locations yet? The one I was in yesterday had the $39.99 ones that you speak of as well, which are the same ones that FS is selling for $49. They also had the Mad Catz ones for $24.99.

Oh, I see. I thought the original question was moronic since these cables have been freely available at any FS, BB and EB Games for the past 2 and half weeks. So what exact alternative are you searching for?

Gee aren't we a bit testy. For a guy who supposedly knows where to get deals, you seem a bit lost. Anyone who has half a brain can use Ebay and get the same damn cable for A LOT LESS. For the inept here you are:

Who should shut up now? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Strange how when newbies share with the vets all the newbies get is crapped on.

You're right, you should shut up as the OP has said given your non contribution. Have you ever shopped on eBay. Only dreamers expect to get items in 4 days let alone 4 business days. Don't forget the typical no warranty & immense pain when anything goes wrong. Did you even read the T&C of one of your quoted auctions stating "Item IS NOT available for local pick-up. To shorten delivery time, item may be shipped directly from the manufacturer."

BTW: Dumb post gets crapped on irregardless of newbie/vet status. Personally I think vets should get twice the crap cause they should know better.

Reading comprehension is really a lost art.

Slightly OT the BB cable does improve quality immensely (With only several more days off during the holidays broke down and paid the premium). Zelda looks way more crisp revealing how crappy the graphics really is.

I picked up the original Nintendo cables from their online store -- 35.99 plus 2.58 GST plus 7.00 shipping === $45.68 grand total

I don't have a wii so it's just sitting next to me now, BNIB. I can say there was a big improvement in picture quality when I used the original Nintendo component video cable on my Gamecube (I was a lucky one who got a hold of the component video cable and a console that still had the video port)!

I was happy with the purcahse, price, and service. Thus, I passed it along.

Hi,

Alright im kind of a newb so dont bash me to hard. Which cable would be better in the overall sense of things. In terms of longevity and image quality. The regular component wii cables you find in best buy or the gold plated component ones. Also the official nintendo component cables, are those gold plated?

39.99 is a decent price - better than 49.99 at FS/BB. eBay/Playasia has cables for ~15.00 after shipping.

I won't bash you at all as the question is a good one.

It all comes down to personal preference. I for one do not mind paying top dollar for superior cables, whether they be Tributaries, Monster or anything else. Given the fact that Monster Cable stayed away from the Wii this time is interesting.

To answer your question, go with gold plated ones. The official Nintendo ones are gold plated and you can order them directly from Nintendo. They are $35CDN + shipping, depending upon which method you choose. I have both the official ones and a cheaper set. I use the official ones for my hook up to my high end gear. The cheaper set are used if I remove the Wii from my home and take it somewhere else. I hate the hassle of having to pull out you gear to connect/disconnect cables so I always buy two.

The cheap set I bought off Ebay (the exact same ones BB/FS are charging $50 for) here in Canada. Less than $22 completely shipped and to my door in 4 days, irregardless of what others say in this thread.

To sum up:

1. In a hurry, go buy the expensive ones at BB/FS or the cheaper ones (MadKatz) at EB Games.

2. Can wait a few days, definitely go with the ones from Nintendo. Here:

With regards to cables, DO NOT BUY Monster for anything. The prices they charge for cables is ridiculous. You can go to ANY Audiophile / Videophile forums and see that Monster is just here to rip newbies off.

Call up any TV servicing company and they will say the same thing.

Unfortunately, since the cables for the Wii are a bit more customized, companies can charge a bit more. Even $29.99 is ridiculous for component cables

But seriously, a $69.99 Monster cable provides the same performance as a $9.99 cable from a generic electronic store.

Search around on RFD or even the internet and you will see that it's true.

May be true in some cases as in game cables but I can tell you without an ounce of a doubt that no $9 compares to a $100 cable. I have seen them tested before my eyes by an ISA rep who is paid $8K to calibrate home theaters. They make a difference in high end applications. For the average consumer in their living room is a completely different story.

What's ISA? Most who spend money on calibration get ISF people to come.

I have yet to see ONE review which positively absolutely states that boutique cables gives you NOTICABLE performance. Any reputable audiophile/videophile forum will tell you the same thing. In fact, I think I saw a review which said that some boutique cables perform worse than standard copper cables ;)

Perhaps there is SOME difference in the electrical signal - but in the end, your ears won't hear the difference.

The only reason to purchase expensive cables is for the build quality - these cables are built well, very durable, look nice, and have good connectors. But, there are a lot of cheaper cables which have these features ... so...

All your quoted sellers list as Ont so where did this ship from BC come from? Thanks in advance for the link as I'd definitely be interested given the same seller could ship me the cable in 2 days.

Your Waterloo seller is high risk based on his feedback mostly from sellers of get rich quick scheme. NO thanks.

So how long does it take to ship from China in case the guy runs out? A self professed eBay expert like you should know.

Your eBay links are not reliable. Tell you what, I apologies in advance for the "bashing and insults" in exchange for a BC seller who can get the same BB/FS quality cables it to my door in 2 business days for under $20US.
