This caught my eye today.

What’s better than pocket bike racing? Pocket bike racing with the King. The only word that comes to mind when thinking of the trio of Burger King games is... really? The idea of Pocket Bike Racing, Sneak King, and Big Bumpin' is completely ridiculous but compelling at the same time. The developer, Blitz Games, was also the developer of Fuzion Frenzy, the multiplayer title that features minigames, arcade games and tournament modes.

The latest news, according to Gamespot, consists of the unbelievable sales of the three games. All three Burger King games saw over 2 million cumulative copies sold in just 4 weeks, while the highly acclaimed Microsoft shooter, Gears of War, hit 2 millions sold copies in roughly 6 weeks.

Sneak King takes a Splinter Cell edge with stealth. The goal of the game is to give people platters of burgers without them knowing you are sneaking up on them. Pocket Bike Racing is exactly as the title states, and well, Big Bumpin' is just bumber cars with crazy twist and turns. You have to watch out for ice patches and dodge saws.

While the Burger King partnership has outdone Microsoft, it also helps that each of the Burger King games is sold for only $3.99 when you purchase a value meal and is available for XBOX and XBOX 360.

The question is how long will this novelty last, and will the Burger King videogames actually reach top sales on the videogame charts? Gamespot has also reported that none of the BK games have rated higher than 6.0 out of 10.

the selling/buying point was that these games were/are very cheap, i got 3 for under 15$ i believe......plus it's a limited time offer, so that makes them more exclusive.

Just media twisting their words.

The BK games are fun, but are just a quick novelty.

Gow cost 10 million dollars to produce, which includes alot of things such as art/design/programming/engineering and is not the ridiculous figure forbes put together. This 10 million dollars is according to epicgames VP Mark Reins.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20176

So that ridiculous forbes article that game companies make a 1 dollar profit is bunk. Because they estimate the developement at 54 million, which is really far from 10 million. Although they didn't include development cost for the unreal engine which they used in the game, they are going to make money off this engine for licening it to other publishers and use it for futures games too.

But power to them, they made a good game and should make money off of it.

The point is, even if BK was 100 percent profit in that the developer got to keep every cent of that 3.99(Everyone worked for free including brooke burke). It would still be less profitable than gears of war. e.g 6 million copies at 4 dollar each = 24 million. For GoW, we can take that 54 million dollar development cost, trim it down to 10 million and putting a portion of that into profit( Plus gross sales of 120 million(probaly alot more after christas) = alot more profitable game than the BK series.

But the BK game is a huge marketing success for Burgerking, but profit wise in terms of game profit, it is clearly inferior to gears of war.
