UPDATE: I just bought the parts excluding optionals off NCIX for $1123.47 after tax and rebates. Was buying expediated insurance for $35 a good thing?
Hey computer gurus in the Markham/GTA region, I need some help hunting for computer parts for the best price. I'm looking to buy some parts in the GTA, preferably brand new and from a small retail store. I really appreciate it if you can hook me up with a good deal =).
(I welcome constructive criticism for this setup.):
E6400
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
OCZ Platinum EL XTC PC2-6400 1GB 2X512 DDR2
Seagate SATA 320GB Sata 7200RPM
eVGA 7600GT 256MB
Antec Sonata II
LG 18X DL DVD-RW
Optional:
Decent 400+W Power Supply (I heard the one that comes with the Antec case is buggy)
Logitech x-530's/540's
Decent wireless keyboard/mouse combo
Considering:
Switch motherboard to Gigabyte GA 965P DS3 or other decent 965 board
My budget really is set at $1150, but I'm looking to get ALL the components, including the optionals, at one place. For that matter, my budget is slightly higher. Can anyone suggest where I could get this at a great price in Markham/GTA, or am I dreaming?
I really appreciate your help and thanks for looking. Happy holidays!
Current Findings:
Ncix: $1,253.67 - $93 Rebates = $1160.67*
DirectCanada: $1,174.02 - $12 Rebates = $1,162.12*
FansPC (pmall): $1,180
PcGateComputer (pmall): $1,200
TigerDirect: $1,411.19 (Breaking my balls here...my balls)

you need to use your fingers and start hitting the websites. ie.
canada computers
icct
etc (do a search on this site for canada computers and you'll find a huge thread of alt. stores to buy from).
next, use Excel and start listing your parts and prices from all the shops. then PM from the store you choose
Also, why stick with GTA/Markham? You should really buy from ncix or direct canda. much better prices and you only pay gst. I just bought the P5W DH board from ncix tonight.

Thanks for the responses. I'll gather a list right now.
I prefer local small retail stores, because in my experience, it was much easier to deal with these type of stores if something went wrong. E.g. Defective parts, damaged parts. Also, I find them to have great negotiable prices. I'll buy from large retail stores if necessary.
These prices are for all the non-optional parts
* - with shipping and insurance recommended on site
All prices are quoted in CAD after taxes
Ncix: $1,253.67 - $93 Rebates = $1160.67*
DirectCanada: $1,174.02 - $12 Rebates = $1,162.12*
FansPC (pmall): $1,180
PcGateCanada (pmall): $1,200
TigerDirect: $1,411.19 (Breaking my balls here...my balls)

Nothing wrong with the PSU from the antec for what you're running. Your setup doesn't even demand much power. I suggest getting your rig first, and only worry about replacing the psu if it is getting buggy. No point wasting your money if it doesn't get buggy right? Check out directcanada for the rest of your optionals. FYI, there's no PST on anything you buy there.

You live in Markham, I'm sure you're aware of Pacific Mall, they have a few stores in there including Canada Computers, also, TigerDirect isn't too far off the 404 either.

Thanks guys. If I do omit the power supply, but still get the speakers and DECENT wireless keybo/mouse, I would like to spend $1200 at most. Perhaps I can find someone who's selling gift cards @ NCIX...

The stores I like:
Infonec - Markham : Lots of parking, laid back group of people and decent prices/service
PC Village - Markham: Talk to Syed there (old Pakistani guy with baseball cap). They have good prices, nice service and the guy doesn't bullsh*t you.
Data First Computers: They don't have stock on a lot of items but Dino and Al there are very helpful and can get you what you want no problem.
Canada Computers (Richmond Hill): Nice store with good service. Prices are decent but parking and crowds are too much at times.

Update: I just bought the computer off NCIX. =)
After PM'ing and everything, final price came out to be $1123.47 after taxes, shipping, Express Insurance.
What you do guys think? Am I dumb and impatient or what?
