the only way to find the best price is to shop around
different companies have different prices for different people in different areas.
however one thing -- you shouldn't 'lie' about where the car is parked (if your 'mailing address' and where you actually live is different. the costs if you get caught are bad

it all depends on how you look. post a pic for a better estimate.

BINGO
You ain't going to find out anything by asking on here. Start calling insurance companies and getting quotes. Ask for a ref # for when you call back.

I would recommend Dan Lawrie - Google them. I have been with them for 9 years and I always get a great rate... initially I got a discount because of where I worked... but they continued to give me the discount when I moved jobs.... I always shop around for cheaper insurance but have yet to get a better deal. And no...I don't get a commission!... just get a quote and see... you always get real people and their accident help is superb... the only concern was that I was OK rather than whos fault it was (although it wasn't mine;) ).

TD
TD Meloche Monnex - if you're a student at one of their affiliates
PC Financial
BelAir Direct
if your gf's parents already have auto insurance it will usually be cheaper with their company than any other since they usually give a discount for having more than 1 car insured.
like what others have said, you gotta call around and get quotes, it's a time consuming process but can save you lots in the future.
TD gave me a cheaper rate which i thought they woulda given to my friend who was just 1 year younger, but they charged him $100/mth more. So you gotta call around.

Don't take advice from people. Call every single insurance company you can find and get quotes from all of them.

www.kanetix.ca will compare insurance rates from different companies for you
www.belairdirect.com is likely to be cheap
www.tdinsurance.com if you don't qualify for TD group insurance, otherwise www.melochemonnex.com
www.statefarm.ca if you're a student with good grades
www.rbcinsurance.com may also give good quotes.
www.insurancehotline.com (this site has gotten progressively worse over the years, though)
One or more of the above should quote you decent rates. Calling the respective companies up takes more time than pointing and clicking through a few pages.
If you don't like any of the rates, then your next best bet is calling an insurance broker who will shop around for you.
