Tire changers screw up

Hey guys, I had recently switched over to winter tires.

Today when I was changing my front brakes I realized that one of the bolts wont come off, it was cross-threaded !!! The bolt it useless now.

Can I goto the tire changers and complain ?? There is no other way I could've done it myself because it would take an air gun to cross-thread it that bad. Also this was the first time I took off my tires after switching over ...

Do I have a case here ??

Complaining probably wont do much good. Better off just replacing the bolt. They aren't expensive. I am pretty sure they just hammer out.

I know its just a grade 10 bolt but I cant do it myself. I want them to pay to get it fixed :) ...

Just ask them nicely then. If they refuse, then it''ll probably cost you more in time to replace than to just replace it yourself. Time = money.

true .. but I don't have the tools to do it ... oh well lets see what they say ...

I am presuming that you are talking about the nut being cross threaded onto the wheel stud?
I would definitely take it to the folks who installed your winter rims. They should remember you as it could not have been so long ago and at the same time I would ask them what kind of torque is applied by their air gun. Is it calibrated? If you can make a reasonable case, they should fix it.
They may need to remove the hub and press the stud out.

Please don't tell me that this happened at the Canadian Tire on Oglivie (Ottawa)...
I got some new winter tires just recently from that place and the first time they installed it and I drove away the car vibrated like crazy! I brought it back the next day and the other mechanic told me that the first installer didn't balance two of the tires properly and the one passenger wheel was not seated properly. Very messed up and time consuming. Now however I notice the alignment is off a lot (not sure if this is coincidence) and there is a slight vibration (that wasn't there before) but only at higher speeds 100+km/hr.

In summary...their installation service sucks and I hope this is not where you (OP) went...I am not sure if I should go back since the installation includes warranty for x amount of km (not sure how much right now) but its just a time killer waiting for 1hr+ for them to do everything :S and who knows, they might mess up more!
