I am looking to purchase a LCD/Plasma television for the family room to replace a problematic CRT-HDTV purchased a couple of months ago at BB. My question is, I have two small children ( boys 2 and 1 year old) who can sometimes be well, boys. I am somewhat worried about what may happen if they were to get their hands on the TV, or perhaps throw something at it such as a toy. Would a LCD /Plasma screen hold up to light abuse, or should I really stay away from this.

Note: My kids are generally well behaved, but we all know what can happen when kids pull a tantrum or get overly excited.

I believe plasma TVs have a glass cover like a normal CRT TV so its resilience would be more or less the same. LCD screens normally shouldn't even be touched unless you're lightly and carefully cleaning the screen so they're more fragile in that regard.

Both TV types are significantly lighter in mass than CRTs so the potential for them to be knocked over is higher.

mount it on a wall high enough out of their reach might be something to consider..at least it will prevent them from tipping it over...stuff thrown at it is another issue...depends how much of an arm the have. :)
