A easy way to find out if your memory stick is real or not, you need a psp with 3.01+ FW, physical or emulated
Go to either Photo/Music/Video, click Triangle button, then information on the memory stick, then there are 3 pieces of information, "User Capacity", "Free Space" and "MagicGate TM". If your memory stick is real, it will say Supported under "MagicGate TM", else if you are the unfortunate one, it will say Unknown.
I tried on 2 memory sticks, mine said Supported but my friend's said Unknown, and his card doesn't have the engraved letter at the back.
I got this off somewhere but I cant find the original post anymore, credit to the one who found this out.
