RnC

I remember last year, MEXX had a 50% sale on pretty much everything during the boxing week (and before too). It was very worth it...does anyone know if they are doing it again this year?

Hmm last year, some stores started it about a week before christmas, while some started on the 23rd. If there is this sale again, then I'd guess that it'd show up about the same time.

It was awesome last year. The sign said 50% off absolutely everything. I went to go get a bottle of their waterlove fragrance.

wow!!! really, that was the deal last time??? They have so many nice things this year that i saw!!!
Last year, i went w/ my cousins who took too much time at BB and FS... so we ran out of time.
I will keep checking back for updates ... Hope this is true.

IIRC, they didn't allow return/exchange on boxing day purchases.

I ended up returning some stuff from the sale, was given store credit. Didn't purchase them exactly on boxing day, but from the "boxing day/week" sale which started before boxing day and ended after.
If i recall theres no returns/exchanges during that time period, but returns/exchange of the merchandise was allowed for store credit. Return policy was also extended.

Yeah that's true. I'm not sure if it's for everything or certain items but when i went on Dec 26, they made it clear i couldn't return anything i bought that day.

They'd probably do it again since it was such a big hit. But they do tend to hide away some of their things.
I need new dress pants too and perhaps pick up some dress shirts.

They tend to hide the latest collection of the clothes for the sales.
I would believe that they would do the same 1/2 price sale. The clothes they sell at discounted prices still makes them money.

I hope so too. Last year was great, got a blazer for work for only $20. Original price was somewhere over $100.

My personal opinion would be Yorkdale if you get in early, partially becaues they ahve separate stores for the genders so perhaps a little less hustle and bustle than Eatons.
Avoid STC.

yes they are definitely cheaper. i have been to the niagara outlet couple times and have got 30%, 40% off on regular merchandise. now i hope that on boxing the discounts will be deeper, but i cant be sure...

They have this really nice trenchcoat that I was eyeing during the 25% off sale. I hope they get more in for their boxing day sales. I haven't seen this specific style for awhile though. Wraps around the front and buttons offcenter.

Either Yorkdale or Fairview, but since Yorkdale has more/better stores, you'd probably want to go there.
But I'll be going to the Ajax Mexx myself.

just got back from this, not too impressed, i've gone the last 3 years, this was definitely the worst of them. poor selection in mens, and size availability was poor also, mainly XS, S, and XL, and i was there at 10.30am, 30 min after opening, so i'm pretty sure they didnt have much available to begin with.

Just got back from the store in Metrotown (Vancouver) and they had a lot of dress and casual attire (a lot more than the Robson St. one).
The suits are drastically reduced. Yesterday they were selling them for $300, today I got one for $126 and another for $170 (jacket and pants included)
I'm so happy I came back to Vancouver for Xmas :)

the vaughn mills outlet was also pretty bare at 10:30...but again styles were crap and didnt get anything.
STC...holy sh1t...i didnt want to line up to get in but prob the same style so I avoided it.

Went to North Edmonton and West Ed. Got a couple of shirts from the former and a belt from the latter. Not too impressed with the selections. Too many shirts and summer pants that'll never sell and not enough sweaters, knit tops and wool coats. I'd advise Edmontonians to avoid the West Ed location. Higher prices for the same stuff really and smaller selection too.
It's suppose to be 50% off the regular price but somehow I got the belt for more than 50% off. Paid only $15 bucks for it when the original price was $50. I can't complain I guess...

went to Factory store in Brampton (Trinity Commons).. selection was quite good but alot of stuff was crap.. picked up two dress shirts (25$ each) and a t shirt (15$).. anyone else find that there shirts fit really long.. like the bottom of my dress shirts are almost below the crotch of my pants.. it really doesnt matter because I tuck in during formal occasions, but I couldnt buy any casual dress shirts for that reason..

Went to Yorkdale at noon-ish, seemed like a regular Saturday to me.
Picked up a pair of dress pants - long cuff dress shirts don't really seem that great to me. Selection was a lot and sizing was generally pretty good.

Went to the Eaton Centre location. Selection was OK, but I couldn't find my sizes in two shirts that were really nice. I ended up buying a lot, but Mexx is one of my favourite stores. It seems they hid some stuff that I would see there on a regular basis.

Guys, I used to work in the US for a private label company who make clothes for Lacoste, GAP, Banana Rep, OP and some private labels for Nordstrom and Saks 5th Ave. Believe me when they mention 50% off they actually still making a lot more. So after knowing their cost...I never buy name brand clothings anymore unless they're less than $15. Even a nice 100% wool turtleneck only cost about US$3 - 4 to make and add shipping to the US (about $.50 per piece from China). Our company sold that same turtleneck to Macys for $18 - $20 and Macys turn around and tag it for $75 - 80. Now some of you may notice that how could Macys or the Bay have a 75% off sale and still make money. The reason is those big dept stores can chargeback discount to manufacturers to make room for mark down price.
Anyway I was down at Mexx today...yes it's 50% off but from regular price. MEXX is so overpriced...for the same quality of fabric ...you can get better prices elsewhere.

Gotta agree, went to STC nothing there interested me. Seemed like mostly stuff that never sells at regular price. Also it seemed like prices were higher this year, or maybe it was 50% off the lowest ticketed price last year.... either way, you were still looking around $30-40 for a mediocre long sleeve and the dress shirts were mostly blah.
Were jackets available at yorkdale or eaton centre? there were none at scarborough town centre. The jackets I remember seeing a while back were alright.
