Looking fo wireless headphones that still allow the TV speakers to work

Looking for somethig for my mom who is getting hard of hearing. Something my dad can still listen to TV, but she can use the headphones to increase the volume. All the sets I have seen will cut the sound to the TV speakers when plugged in. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think it has anything to do with the headphones, just the set.On my parents set, they can plug in any wireless headphones and still listen to the tv on the built in speakers.

If their TV has an audio out, that is the ticket. You can wire that to a receiver, boombox, or amplified/computer speakers (although it seems Logitech is to be avoided for headphones use) and run the headphones through one of these.

We're trying to do the same for my grandma. It gets annoying when she blasts the whole house with the audio from a crappy kids show all over the house. However, she says "What's he saying? I can't hear it" even at full volume, and she didn't like the setup we put together about a month ago which had cheap (wired) JVC headphones hooked up to a preamp and turned to full blast... which is like having TV speakers attatched to your ears, only it's quieter to the rest of the people.

But, she didn't like it.
I'm now looking for a laptop so I can work in the garage or the backyard in peace.

Maybe going to a doctor and getting a hearing aid is in order :).She's not willing to go because her 60~80 year old "friends" who peer-pressure her into all sorts of weird stuff also say that "oooh, hearing aids are bad, you can hear what you don't want to hear like feet on carpet then you can't hear the TV....." It's 100% BS because I know some people who need and have hearing aids due to being born with impaired hearing and they say this is entirely not true... well, maybe not entirely, but Canadian specialists are 5000% better than going into some random shop in HK and asking for hearing aids.

Yes, my family annoys me, but I do have to live under their roof........
