View Full Version : Why don't we post leaked flyers on a third party site?

I can get the zellers/bay boxing day flyers.
I'm sure other members can get the boxing day flyers from other retailers.

If someone doesn't mind setting up one of those free pages I'll go grab the flyer and scan it.

We just need some cooperation guys!
We can setup an IRC channel to facilitate things and keep RFD away from whatever (unknown to me) threats they have had in the past.

So, anyone game?

Even then, posting links to it on this board would be against the rules

What I don't understand is why there is the embargo to begin with. I know that have scans of the boxing days sales would be copyright infringment. But simply the information would not constitute and copyinfringment whatsoever.

Saying store "A" will have a TV for $500 is strictly a fact and can't be copyrighted. Its just like if he NHL tried to have the scores from games available from only the NHL website. They couldn't stop a newspaper from publishing that information. They could try to stop the use of the NHLs logos and imaged, but the game score is strickly a fact...

I just don't understand...>:(

It's not against the law, it's against RFD rules. Why? Those same companies that people leak flyers from pay RFD for advertising. In return, RFD obviously has to respect their concerns.

Maybe if somebody with "inside information" tried to post it as "There is a rumour that ..." , maybe then we could have a "legal" discussion of leakages
:p

Ya but I heard RFD got famous for posting scans. Didn't have a problem back in the day but now that they're earning cash from advertisers they don't want to blow a good thing. Advertisers before Members I guess.

Not a hater, just pointing out the obvious (since every year RFDers are eager to post flyers).

Yes its definetly a conflict of interests. Thats why I suggested the idea of a third party website hosting the flyers.

IE. I'm trying to round up people with early copies of the Boxing Days flyers. What RFD used to host.

We do have an unofficial channel on EFNET, #RFD I believe.

It's kinda sad because that is basically what made RFD so famous....

What can I say, welcome to the world of marketing. RFD is too "big-scale" now and all the stores are aware of the site now.

I can get Canadian Tire flyers, as I work there...if there's even anything good...but I'll get them up as soon as I find them.

This isn't any different than any other year guys.

Because Boxing Day is on a Tuesday, all of the flyers are going to be out waaaay in advance anyway.
