I bought last year's model (equivalient to this one) last year for Christmas. It is AWESOME. I use it constantly for playing xvid avi's etc... Bring it along with some burned discs and plug it into somebody's RCA jacks on a TV and you've got a better player than my dumb Sony DRM crippled machine (which can't even play VCD's properly)

I've got one too. The one problem is the sound output is very low, so if you are using in the car it's better to get a FM transmitter, or a decent non-powered speaker.

If it's the same type of package I got last year from Mustek, then it's got a device that allows you to strap it to, or between, seats in a car. It also came with a remote w/ batteries, car-jack, AC adapter, earphones....it was awesome.

This is a piece of Crxp. I bought twice and returned twice to FS (1st time on cash, second time on GC). The major problem as being missing the control buttons on players. You have to use remote to use this player. End up with TD's MP70C sale which is almost same hardware with all buttons EXCEPT they removed audio/video-IN port.
These Mustek have problem stretch 4/3 movie or divx/avi to full screen. The zoom function only works side-side but NEVER top-bottom unless it is official wide screen DVD.
The good: Divx/AVI ... MP4, good LCD resolution. Bad: Zoom/stretch. Audio is ok.

Buy a portable DVD bag to store/carry and the bag will have all the straps you need to suspend it between the seats without removing it from the bag. The "video in" should allow to add a game console on the road (I think).
Something like this.

My MP70 from TD had some battery issues but Mustek resolved. I had to act quick with the warranty, note the 90 day warranty.
I advised my sister to buy this.
Who uses Zoom / Stretch on this? I just push play and watch.

If sound is not the best, any recommendations on a "RFD priced but still with RFD Quality" FM transmitter and/or best suggestions on where to purchase? ;)

I got one and returned it after 2 weeks when the price was $89. The DivX/Xivd support is good but all the movies get stretch to fit the screen. Also, I had a voice/video sink problem with both DivX and DVDs (more prominent on the Divx) that caused the voices to become unsinked with the mouths (even on store bought DVDs). The player was also very loud. I returned mine and got the Toshiba SDP1850 for $229 but WOW, what a much better unit. I know this is like comparing apples to oranges but that is what my experience was with this player.

Yes. 14 day return policy so you should be able to do a PM just fine.

The SDP1850 is a *nice* unit but 4x the price of this (but you can get it for $199 at Superstore along with the various $30 off $200 coupons, no tax weekend etc).
Having said that dispite the aspect ratio problems it has with most widescreen divx files (not all and even some widescreen dvd-video discs are affected) it's still a very good deal at $70 no MIR involved.
If someone doesn't mind the lack of USB/SD slots and needed a standalone divx player for their TV I'd recommend this since the widescreen problem only happens using the built in monitor and having a portable dvd player does come in handy once in a while.
FYI: For those wondering about the car seat holder I'm pretty sure the included case has the ability to do that.

Doesn't play divx.

It's quite large actually. The Toshiba unit referenced above is about 1/2 the size (while still having the same 7" screen)
'Funny' how the paper flyer says you are saving $20 but the front page of the online site says you are saving $62....
I'm betting that's because the website isn't a hard copy of their lies so they think they'll be able to get away with their lies.
There's gotta be a way to hold these asshats to account.

Does anyone know the battery life on this?
It lasts about 1.5 - 2 hrs continuously.
There is a really really primitive controls on the set, like the arrows and select button equivalent on the remote. Except its not labelled or labelled as something else, so you have to play around to figure it out. so there is very limited controls on the set, but not nothing.
I got this back when it was on sale for 90. I dont know how picky you are in your video quality, but im not. I'm happy with it. It does the job of keeping me entertained on the greyhound to TO, which is all i need for it.

Picked up 5 of the Musteks for give including my daughter. At that price you can't go wrong. Think of it as a disposable toy. It will get more use than a toy. Of course it'2 1/2 to 1/3 price of brand names so don't expect much.
Picture quality is good but not crisp or glowing as eg Toy Story should be.
Volume sucks big time - worst than AM radio (hi pitch treble) & low volume on most DVDs.
Thick and bulky and wider (double size of reg DVD)
Battery sticks out in back not in unit like higher priced players. Only last 2 hr
(2000 MAmp). Over time you prob can' twatch too long.
No controls on machine. Must rely on remote and must alway have it with you.If remote gone you can't do lots of features.
Pluses are that it plays everything including DVix AVI, it reads all formats (i've tested 10 diff types of discs from -R +R -RW +RW VCD, JPEG etc........
For the Price good.
Picked up Axion brand at Best Buy too but 79.99 (10 bucks more) to see if worth it. Here's my conclusion.
Higher resolutions screen (crisper images and reflective qualities when watching Toy Story)
Battery life 2.5hr (but bulky - attaches on back too
It is about 1/3 the size of the Mustek - More attractive screen. Not as much boarder. Thinnner overall and not as wide. (another deciding factor)
Sound is loud and clear unlike Mustek (million times better and one of my deciding factors)
Controls on the Axion is superior (all menu/curser/next/Prev). So unlike Mustek remote is not necessary
there are 2 audio outs on the Axion so you can hook up 2 headphones, Mustek only has one.
Viewing angle is good on both units
Limitations. Does not play DIVX, CD-RW jpg, VCD but ok with most other formats. It is noisier and less smooth in reading discs than Mustek. Sometimes takes 15 sec to load at RW but Mustek reads it right away.
Claims to have a 90 day part and 1 yr labour per best buy but warranty form only says 90 days for both? Will have to clarify this. Or does anyone know?
Conclusion.
Will keep Axion due to sleekness, size and battery life. Another key was the sound, much better. I think the extra $10 is worth it (dispite Mustek playing great formats and being smoother)
I think all these made in CHina things you will take a chance but if you get 1 year out of it you should be laughing. THINK OF IT AS A TOY not a real electornic machine. But the picture from this little things are very impressive!:)

I bought the MP70 when it was on sale last spring at TD for $52 AR and picked up the case that hangs between the seats for $9.99 USD at Walmart in Pa.
It worked flawlessly thru 3 driving vacations this summer - my kids watched a ton of Divx movies.
Great product IMHO.

I bought this one in the summer from futureshop when it was on sale for $89.99. Honestly for the price, this is an amazing deal! If you're looking for a cheap one make sure you pick it up, the screen is clear and it looks great during the daytime or at night. The regular price on this item is $99.99 though, not $129 or whatever they say on the site.
One negative point though is the speakers are not loud at all. So if you're going to listen to a movie make sure you have a set of headphones or a tape deck adapter for it.
** Make sure you don't loose the remote control!!! There aren't very many control buttons on the actual player, so if you loose it you might as well throw it out. ****
