Walked into Sam's Club here in Cambridge,@ 12:25pm and they just marked down the SOYO 32" Model # 3218AB. Might not be a brand name and specs aren't the best, but $499 !!!!!

Wow amazing price, can anyone confirm nationwide at perhaps Wal Mart? I don't believe we got Sam's Club in the West. Perhaps this is a precursor to the Boxing Day prices we will see on 32" LCDs ??

I bought one of these a few months ago, to use for SDTV, not that great of a picture, pretty fuzzy; but with xbox or DVD looks great. Maybe thats just my experience. I ended up returning it. Was bought for $799.

I have the TV out of the box and hooked up to my XBOX 360 and my cable. For $499 you cannot go wrong. My neighbour works at Sam's Club and it's a 100% membership satisfaction policy. She said I could take this back to Sam's Club within 1 year for a return/exchange. I also bought it with Mastercard (which they now accept) and doubled my warranty with my Platinum card....

Not sure, if it is nationwide ? Best guess is to call and find out. I happen to be in the right place at the right time today. Even picked up a PS3 at EB Games after buying the TV. They had just come in as I entered the store.
Good Luck!

All HDTVs look bad when viewing SD content. Thats not a fault of the TV.

All HDTVs look bad when viewing SD content. Thats not a fault of the TV.
All are not equal in displaying SD content. If the signal processor can cope well with the interference inherent in analog and/or it includes some kind of noise reduction facility, it can make a world of difference.
The Envision I got recently displays great SDTV because of this, and the Sharp LC32SH20U I bought to compare it to was inferior in a few areas including lack of noise reduction/inferior analog SDTV display.
And don't forget that even a progressive scan DVD connected through component on an HDTV is still not HDTV, but either SDTV (480 lines interlaced) or EDTV (480 lines progressive) and does not have any higher resolution. It's just a much cleaner picture due to minimal noise.
The quality of the analog tuner comes into play as well, as some (even on normal tube tvs) deal with weaker signals than others.

I was there Friday afternoon, they had quite a few, maybe 6-7 at the front and a skid over by the by the large appliances. I would like to hear your impression of the unit after you get it hooked up. They are not gonna last long. The thing is they have it hooked up to a HDMI DVD with the RCA composite cables (RCA 2 audio, 1 video)

I was there saturday...a woman was buying the demo model. I was looking at the 42" at $1099. I think i'm glad I didn't get the 32" yesterday. 4x3 content on a 32" 16x9 = under 27", which is the same as my CRT. http://www.cavecreations.com/tv2.cgi

No need to wait for ppl's impression any more. These are discontinued model, there wont be any restock, thats why they marked down the price. It is a 720p 1080i model, with HDMI, vga... $500... hmmm, some name tubes in the same size are still at this price.
Sams has good return policy, so next time, just grab it and return if you dont like it.
I saw a 30" audiovox lcd hdtv yesterday at $390 something which was hooked up with a xb360 for demo, not sure how good that is.
London club might still have this, call them ;>
BTW, the xb360 holiday bundle is around 450 @ sams which is 499 @ BB & FS.

Guys this thing has a 12ms refresh rate. It's essentially a 2 + year old panel bought from who knows where. If you watch sports dont' bother, and unless you're gonna watch almost all HD prepare yourself. Someone said it can't look worse than a old CRT... Wanna bet?

Spotted Friday: Sam's club has a new Soyo 32" model at ~$700. I wouldn't be surprised if a rebate is added after christmas. It's Model 3248 (http://www.soyola.com/products/proddesc.php?id=418&PHPSESSID=0f3465ccb30e08e8ddc9dd47750f7b2d)- but it's only HD ready/No ATSC tuner. Same 12ms response but better Contrast ratio
