I haven't stayed at the Marriott, but Embassy Suites rocks! Last year at check-in I got free drink coupons for 'happy hour', a pretty decent free breakfast. The built-in Keg on the 9th (?) floor with a view of the falls is great too.

Went their last weekend, and let just say you are better off eating else where.

Dinner for 2 with appertizer, main course cost well over $100 (no wine, no dessert, no drinks). In fact our bill came to $150 ish. After $75 voucher, it was still quite expensive. I don't mind paying for good food, but the quality of food at the restaurant is barely okay, defintely not worth $150, I personally won't pay $70 for it either.

Should've have eat the dinner buffet at the Casino, it would have been alot cheaper ($18 per person with a player's card, probably would have gotten better food as well).

The hotel was okay, service charges for misc stuff is simply outrageous. ($8 for a can of beer in your room)

just my $0.02.

Well they emailed me saying that something was wrong with the CC information and that I should print the email and show up - so i guess they didnt charge me yet.

If I m not mistaken - you can park at the casino and walk-in/ check-in to the hotel?

Ohhh.. for people who are going at the end of the month, there are restrictions for free parking. I believe you need the gold/platinum card to park in the lot for some dates in late December. I think those with a regular players card have to park at another lot a little further away, and they'll shuttle you to the casinos.

I'd call the casino to make sure. I went last week, and they handed me a slip of paper with the dates when we left the lot.

I'll see if I still have it at home, and report back to this thread.

Been to the Mariott with the jacuzzi and it's pretty nice. Fallsview is great. Decor and bed is nice too (had the king). My only complaint is, skip the dinner if you can. It's not really a deal considering how much they charge you. Trust me, even with the voucher your dinner is going to cost over $100, more if you add on an appetizer and alcohol. Food is average, maybe slightly better but for a $100+ meal I expected a lot more.
For a little less money go next door to the Keg or even less the Casino Buffet, mmmm all you can eat crab legs. Use the extra money to buy more alcohol and really have a party for two.
Breakfast buffet on the other hand was excellent. Went for seconds at the omelet station.

I called the Fallsview Casino and enquired about the parking. They confirmed its Free as far as they know. Was it the Fallview casino you are talking about or the Old Casino Niagara? Did you find the paper yet? Would be interested in knowing that as Marriot wants $20+Tax for overnight parking(Valet parking with unlimited ins and outs privileges).

When I went, the $75 voucher for dinner can be used for room service instead. I'd think it's a better idea. And eat dinner at the casino.

Trust me, the restaurant in the hotel is not good by any strech of the imagination. (for what they charge you anyways)

Breakfast was good, but if you had to pay, they charge $25 per person so it's not worth it then.

"We would like to advise you that on December 31st, at 3:00 pm, the Fallsview Casino Resort parking garage will only be available to Gold and Platinum card holders, Invited Guests, and Concert Ticket Holders.

As an alternative, we are pleased to offer a complimentary shuttle service from Lot 1, located at Stanley Avenue and Highway 420. This service will be in operation from 12 Noon on December 31st until 12 Noon on January 1st."

So it's only for New Year's Eve... sorry for the confusion :)

thanks for the review,

what floor were you on, and was the view nice?

The $75 voucher, was it like a gift card, or was it only good for 1 dinner up to a max of $75 (ie do I have to buy a second dinner if I go with my wife or can I get 2 x $40 meals and pay $5)

You can book at $90 US instead. Make the deal even sweeter by saving $10 more.

Use the same link to re-check your dates and prices. Usually, the first link will show $99 U.S. and it increases in price as you go down. The best price of $90 U.S. is shown in the bottom end of the page.

The only difference between the two rooms is that the $99 one will show Canadian and American Falls. The $90 room will show only Canadian Falls. Upto your choice.

I just came back from this offer. Prices for entrees start at $28 (fettucini tossed with your chocie of rose sauce or alfredo sauce, garnished with a garlic crostini :cheesygri) so you can indeed get away with a free dinner for two people. There's no restrictions on what you order aside from alcohol so you could always share an appitizer, an entree and a dessert between two people and still come in around $75.

The view was great from the 8th floor but the linens they used were really dissapointing (had a hard time sleeping since they didn't breathe very well). All in all, it's a somewhat mediocre 4 diamond/star hotels but with such a great view and at this price, it's hard to beat.

We stayed in a king sized/jacuzzi fallsview room last valentines day. The room & view were both great with 2 exceptions:

1. Coffee was free, however the cream/sugar pack was marked at $12--insanity...

2. The shower went from luke warm to cold the next morning--I'm assuming it's because of the high volume of couples who spent valentine's at the hotel. I'd recommend not sleeping in & showering first thing to guarantee hot water.

The front desk staff were indifferent to the water situation and didn't offer anything in the way of a discount.

We skipped the restaurant and ate at the keg--much better value IMO.

All in all, it was not worth the $250/night that we paid, but for $100, it's an awesome deal...Enjoy!

They don't allow you to park for free at the Casino while you're not there, but it will be extremely difficult for them to actually follow up with going after everyone.

This means that they'd have to track you from your car to the casino, and out, while not going back to your car...it just becomes a logistical nightmare for them.

Screwball
Dec 21st, 2006, 12:49 PM
In regards to the parking, it is 100% free with a Players Card. They have no way of restricting overnight access as they use the same garage for their hotel patrons with no special passes for the cars, as well there are the people who will stay at the casino for great lengths of time 12+ hours whose cars would remain in the garage as well. 90% of the time they don't even scan your card when you leave, you just flash it to them and they wave you out.

That said, I would advise you not to be dragging your luggage with you out the front door of the casino.

I would just drop my luggage off at the hotel with my significant other and then drive to the garage, park, and walk out the main entranceway of the Casino Galleria.

Great deal!

I just got back today from the hotel. Arrived last night at 7pm, and what a view, as soon as I walked in. This has to be the hotel that's closest to the falls! Got the $75 dinner coupon for the restaurant. Bill came to $125 after tip, so I just used the coupon and paid $50 out of my pocket. Food is way overpriced, but it's a fancy place.

Hot tub for two was great, in the suite. I won't get into details about it :cheesygri

THis morning I used the breakfast coupon that was also included. It's an all you can eat buffet, worth $56 for two. I left a $10 tip. Food was great and I stuffed myself. I used the free shuttle service to take me around the NIagara area. CHecked out at noon.

All in all it was a heck of a deal. Worth every penny. I'll post pics of the suite and the view later on.

Hi,

What types of room services are available? Is the 20% charge is on top of all the taxes in the final bill?

I just got back from the Marriott. Yes, the dinner voucher can be used for room service but there is a 20% charge for room service which is not included in the voucher. We ate dinner downtown and just used the voucher for dessert. The breakfast is good and it is fully covered by the vouchers.

72 hours or you can just reschedule it. I 'think' I read that the room with the big tub is $20 more on this deal...not 100% sure though. We often ask and recieve a free upgrade...so that's what I'm expecting tonight!! :)

Just booked for myself and the kids for tomorrow night.

Has anyone gone with their children? Are there any perks for them? My husband isn't going so I wonder if I can trade the credit vouchers for some kid related items.

We were in a blue Saturn, and we did use valet. I saw a young couple both at the restaurant the night I arrived, and later on that night the same couple at the lower ground entrance to the casino. I was wondering if they were RFDers. That wasn't you by any chance was it?

I went to the Marriott christmas eve. Booked the whirlpool room, got there late, so they didn't have any left got upgraded to the whirlpool/fireplace room. View was fantastic, but you could smell that the room used to be a smoking room. The hotel only recently changed over to non-smoking a few months ago. I asked the manager for a room that was always designated non-smoking as I have a 6-month old baby. Got upgraded to a junior presidential suite! very nice.

Used the voucher for room service, there is a 20% gratuity charge, think of it as the tip, that you have to pay. Food prices are totally inflated, $14 for a 1.5 litre bottle of water! We ordered, a cheese and fruit platter, veal parmigiana sandwich+fries, cheeseburger+fries, and a cheesecake. total price $96 dollars, so had to pay $21 dollars out of pocket, not bad since we couldn't eat out with the baby.

Breakfast buffet was very good, but get there early if you are staying over the weekend, we started breakfast at 9:30, no line. We finished breakfast at 10:30am and the line waiting to get seated was at least 30 people!

All in all, a good deal, hope you all enjoy your stay!

I am here right now and yes I paid the $20 for internet (I had to work)
They upped me to a floor on the 18th floor...amazing...I think I'd pay the extra to be up this high again.

I parked in Registration, registered, dropped the bags off in our room and then moved my car to the casino. Worked well for a weekday!

Since it's me and the kids only, we ordered room service for dinner last night. The kids meals are all $8.00 (pasta and chicken fingers) and I had the steak nachos....a lot of food, but very dry (for $25). However it only cost me the 20% versus eating McCrappy.

We just had breakfast ...again room service....the kids meals were $4.75 (pancakes, french toast and cereal with 2 bananas). I had the All Canadian breakie of 2 eggs, a half a lb of bacon (literally!) and loads of home fries, a latte and two OJ's ...still only cost me $8.86 for the service fees.

Parking at the casino is totally unattended, so the Player's Card isn't necessary at all (on a Wednesday :cheesygri ).

The pool is alright, only about 125cm deep at it's deepest, but clean and has a sauna, steam room and two whirlpools.

I'd have to say overall, it was worth it for us considering we didn't pay much to eat at all!!

Oh and the parking at the falls says $6, but it's also unattended, so just ignore the sign.

I stayed over the night of the 23rd to teh 24th, I had a great time.

they upgraded us to the junior presidential suite, but the view wasn't "as" good from the 6th floor as some of the upper floors. It was still spectacular in the morning though, but at night - not so much.

We got there fairly late, and fileld up the hot tub, ahd a few beers (nothing beats beer and a hot tub) and ordered room service. It is really expensive, but we managed to get a burger, garlic bread and a pasta entree for the price of the voucher. The pasta was absolutely disgusting according to my wife, but the burger wasn't bad, and fairly cheap considering garlic bread was $13 with no cheese. I wouldn't bother with the garlic bread, since they give you bread with the meal anyways.

We went around 10:30 for breakfast and the lineup was past the elevator. We found out you could order room service, so we went back to the room and relaxed. the breakfast was much better than dinner and well worth the money... free :) The gratuity is added to your bill, I'm just glad we checked out after we went for breakfast.

We parked at the casino and got the players advantage cards. We got $20 in quarters and played $10 each for fun. I lost all mine, but my wife won $16 and we cashed it in. On the way out I tripped over a piece of paper that had free $25 in tokens with a players advantage card. I went to the cashier, showed the card and they gave me $25 cash! So we made $21 and got to park for free. That covered the tips at the hotel. A great pre christmas break.

I just got back after spending a few days.

We had a great time! The view was fantastic! The hotel staff, from the front desk to the shuttle drivers to the maids, are all very polite and friendly.

Sure, everything is overpriced at the hotel but the vouchers were still pretty good. We were able to combine our dinner vouchers and had a very nice dinner at the hotel restaurant for free. The food was excellent at dinner.

The breakfast buffet was good too but ranks up with Golden Griddle in quality. They had a good selection though. I wonder who would pay the $25/head for breakfast... I wouldnt, but when its included Im not complaining :P

Overall, we had a great time and the g/f is already bugging me to go again really soon.

Thanks again OP! This was one of the best RFD deals for me(for a million reasons... :) )

Jan 5th, 2007, 06:02 PM
It was 20%....I think about $8 for breakie (see my previous post), and we had a lot of food left over!!

The kids pancakes were three massive pancakes with strawberries at $4.75 as was the French Toast, a thought when ordering...look at the kiddie menu for breakfast.

I recall Lox and Bagel was about $23, the All Canadian I had was $18.

A latte was $4.25 (same as SB downstairs)

My total room bill was $218 including room service fees, valet parking $20, internet $20, and the upgraded room $138

We just got back ourselves earlier today. All in all quite the nice time. Hotel was great although EVERYTHING except the room is massively overpriced as many people mentioned. That said - we're goin back again next week!

Just a heads up - upon checkin the woman at the desk "forgot" to give me my free vouchers even though she knew I was there on the Travel Zoo deal. No problem though, I simply asked about them and I received them. I decided to valet the car at the hotel and for $20 it wasn't bad. Just left dood the valet key for the car and walked a way - nice and easy.

As far as the food vouchers go the way I look at it is the tax and gratuity are the "real" cost of the food so all said and done things were quite reasonable.

We had lunch at the Casino - sign up for a players club card and buffet lunch for 2 is just shy of C$30 taxes in. Food was pretty good - great selection and it was all good but nothing blew me away.

Dinner was room service on the voucher. When you call for room service make sure to tell them you are using the voucher or they will bill you for the full amount. The G/F forgot to tell them and we got billed the full amount but it was a simple fix while checking out this morning.

As said above - get there early for breakfast if you don't wanna have to wait in line. We got there at 8:45 am and there was no line but by the time we left at about 9:45 am the line was about 25 people long. Breakfast was good - lots of fresh fruit and omletes to order but I'd never have paid $60 for it. I did tip the server $10 as service was excellent!

All in all a good get away. The whirlpool room, valet, tax, and cost of room service dinner [club sandwich with fries and chicken wrap with fries - both excellent!] was ~ C$198 and with the lunch at the casino and tip for breakfast it came in at just under C$240 for a great day away. Gambling losses aside I'd recommend it!

I can confirm I was able to use the $75 dinner voucher for room service dinner. I got $75 toward room service but it did NOT cover the 20% service charge they add to it. Put another way, I had to pay only 20% on the first $75 I spent on room service and the full amount of any excess. Remember, room service there is kind of expensive - even for hotel room service - so the $75 won't get you two full course meals.

There's very few good restaurants in NF with decent prices and edible food but one where locals go is John's on Thorold Stone Road. Nothing fancy but good prices for meals like cabbage rolls, fish and chips, meatloaf. A small step up from diner food and large helpings. No pesto or sundried tomatoes! Licenced. The 2nd room has a lovely marine aquarium. Dinner for 2 with beer might run you around $30CDN.

(My mother lives in NF and I grew up there.)

Have dinner at John's then use the $75 for caviar in the hot tub.

I was there this weekend. For some reason the first two rooms they moved me into had an after smoke smell... switched to a bigger and better room w/ the fireplace. all together my bill came up to 191 something, because i tipped the breakfast waiter 10 bucks. also parked at the hotel. so the 191 includes the parking and the room and taxes and everything.

the breakfast was pretty good for being free.. but i never got to use my room service because i came back late after 11 pm after having dinner at the Keg. The Keg wasnt as good as I expected... it was jacked up in price compared to regular kegs and the food wasnt as good as my neighborhood Keg.

it was foggy at night and so i didnt get a good view.. but in the morning it looked amazing. The sheets werent that great on the bed... they dont breath well.. so i kept waking up in the middle of the night...

Would I go again? probably not. maybe in the summer or something.

I was just pissed i couldnt use my voucher and i left it in the room! (so stupid)

Good room, good room service, good breafast, dinner is ok. bad valet parking.

I was there with my family with 2 kids. By accident, since I arrived late the restaurant was closed and I can only ordered through room services. There is 20% surcharge but I noticed the room service menu is different (or have some more cheaper options) that the resturant menu does not have (I checked restuarant menu the next day when I had my breakfast). I think the resturant menu seems to be more expensive than the room service menu. I remember the entree was around $50! I did not see any like that in the room service menu! Normally restaurant menu should be cheaper than room service menu.... I traveled quite a bit before using different hotels except Marriot. Interesting:confused:
For example, room service menu has sandwiches section. The price of sandwiches are all under $20. I ordered the veal sandwich $19, Mariott deluxe burger $17, and Chicken Wrap $14 (you can get a desert instead or two drinks $4 to $7 for those with just a couple not with kids). They were all good. They also came with salad or fries. I brought along my own drinks...
Note: the max you can order is about $57 + tax will be around the $75 voucher. You need to pay around $11.46 for the 20% service charge. You don't need to pay tips (20% service charge is the tip).
The valet parking was not good. I used the valet parking the first day because it was late and a bit of rainy on the day of arrival. Did not want to park elsewhere (or the Casino). The second day when I picked up my minivan. I found a cigarette at the back seat where my kids seat! So the second day I decided not to use the valet parking... I complained at checkout time. The hotel manager apolozied and removed the $24 charge on it.

In the morning buffet breakfast (under 5 is free), it was about $11.50 extra for two kids over 5 ($5 each + tax). Then you also need to tip them. Two adults were free. Good deal... Good breakfast. I think for the dinner if you eat at restaurant will be a rip off ( $28 for just a plain pasta with only sauce with no meat!). Use room service is a better choice. The service charge is your tip... You have to pay anyway if you use the restaurant instead.

hey everyone, we stayed saturday nite, very nice room but unfortunately they were all sold out of whirlpool rooms at 2pm when we got there so no upgrade for us....

Ok for all who are planning to go there: We ate lunch at Tony Roma's in Radisson - After visiting NF 10 times last year, I say they have the best combos and entrees and great prices. (Also, in casino pickup coupon book which has $10 off 2nd entree voucher for Tony) our 2 entres came up for only $16!!!

We ate the dinner at the Mariott's grill but it is very overpriced and food is no where great.

Bfast was very good and plenty of options. Also, shuttle service runs every 30 mins till 1.30 am.....

Overall, we paid $135 for room with taxes and a nice getaway

Nope, I didn't say a word, they just gave it to me. I did pay the extra money for a whirlpool suite (as part of the package), but I did not ask for the fireplace/higher floor upgrade.

The price on the door of the room listed $1399 per night!!!

yeah, i couldn't get out of Ottawa until 1:30 PM on Friday and it was a bit of a drive with some stops.

We checked out at noon and spent the day in Niagara, but believe me, I got some use out of the room - definitely my money's worth ;)

I had plans to go to Hamilton for the weekend anyways; all in all, it was great! I even won 50 bucks at the casino!

ahhh nuts...my heart is broken that I'm 2 days late! Any other Niagara Falls deals out there? I'm trying to arrange my husband and my 10th anniversary for June 7-10 (somewhere in there)....Niagara Falls was our honeymoon spot.

bummer. waaah.

I stayed at this hotel on sunday, checked out on monday...the room was a gorgeous view however, we got a room with two queen beds because that was apparently standard...we only needed one bed...and in order to get 1 bed, we had to pay an extra $40...was not impressed with that, and the girl at the desk would not upgrade us...

we ended up paying an extra $45 for dinner (which was mediocre) and left the waiter that served us breakfast a great tip...he was awesome...name was gary if anyone goes, definitely ask for him.

all in all...definitely worth the money with the breakfast/dinner included.
