It seems in the last month or two, there has an explosion of newbies on these forums.

Anyone else notice that?

Not that I'm disappointed by it, but I just noticed the trend. RFD is catching on quickly and gaining huge popularity.

I think it's more people trying to sell a wii or a PS3 for a profit...wrong board, this is a board for conscious shoppers.

hmm, interesting points, people are joining for buying and selling game stations.

I also do see a lot of newbie posting in the Hot Deal Forum as well. In fact, that is where I noticed it.

Don't you wish things would never change?

Wow, for someone who just joined in October.. you have a very strong opinion of how things should be around here.

Noobie is so subjective. I've only been here a little over a year and I have more posts than someone who's been here since 2002 but has newbie status on the left hand. So, who's really the newbie?

This thread disappoints. I was looking for an explosion by a newbie.

VERY GOOD point Anessa: newbie as in joined very recently.
It can be difficult to tell because not all people who join also post messages.

But, what has been happening in the last two months is that there has been a significant increase in postings by newly joined members. We will see what happens after Christmas.

RFD is gaining in huge popularity. You can really see the RFD effect take place time and time again when a tasty hot deal subject is on our main dinner plate.

Also, sometimes I can spot RFDers in the stores. They havesuch a bright marker: The person in the checkout line who is holding discounted items and is paying with GCs, coupons, or CT Cash Back Mastercard.

Easy to spot, when you are one of them.

well. i think the lurkers are worst.. they just take the deals and bounce... or use it and go..
where as ppl posting contributes to the community and increases activity.

I don't think I've ever posted a deal. I should ban myself from RFD immediately.

i think posting is a good contribution in that it brings activity towards RFD.

it depends what you post...if you post about the length of your tongue all day, it won't contribute that much to the rfd community...in fact it will scare away those lurkers from posting.

lol true.. .but if people are making good conversation itll attract people to post and just chill on RFD... people will have a connection with the community and feel apart of it.

kinda like.,,, RFD pride.

You should not ban yourself.

Even if you never posted a deal, doesn't make you a bad member.
Some members never post a deal, yet offer great suggestions, remarks and/or tips which are equally helpful.

As well some people are into finding and hunting for deals and some aren't. This is NOT a forum where you MUST post a deal. It should never be mandatory.

The members I don't like are the ones that flame topics when the original poster tried to do something that they thought would be contributive. I see that often in the HOT Deal Forum.

I should be banned too.... but RFD is addictive... I'm getting too caught up in deals.. and when I don't see deals I'm interested in, I'm lurking around the other threads....... it seems that I can't get enough of this.. and in a way, I wish I'd stop.... anyways... just venting for a bit....
