Today, I tried to sign in to PC website as usuall, it said wrong password. So I thought I entered a wrong one, I tried it multiple times it still says wrong password. My other banking account works fine! wtf.... PC's database corrupted?

Not for me.

Check that you don't have your caps lock key on before you panic.

Then you should immediately check that you don't have a password-stealing trojan on your computer. Look for any unknown processes running or unusual behaviour from your computer. Do an immediate virus scan and scan with AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy. If you find something, you still shouldn't panic - it may be unrelated, and 90% of password-stealing trojans don't work successfully anyway. But better be careful - remove the trojan and change your password immediately, then keep a close eye on your account.

Not sure but if you tried multiple times in succession, wouldn't the online account be locked ?

Yeah, it happened to me once. All those asterix's and not being able to tell if I was using a caps lock or not. The account got suspended or something, so I called and asked, then they helped me out and got it back.

That's what hapenned to me a few weeks ago when PC had cancelled my card due to fraud. Did you call them and ask them if there's anything wrong with your account? That's what I did and they told me they had cancelled the card and to go into the pavillion or they would mail me a new card. I got my new card an I'm back in business :)

The website doesn't say My account is locked. It just says:

We are having trouble signing you in. If you have:

- forgotten your password, select a new password now.
- not registered for online banking, register now.
- not activated your bank card, contact us at 1-888-723-8881.
- typed an incorrect bank card number or password, please enter it again below (Ref.#R107)

yep, the cap was on for the first login, but I uncap it after about 2 tries. I called PC and they said, if I entered wrong password, it'll lock for 1 day. But the message doesn't mention anything. That's what worries me. I'll try again tomrrow.

I had that a few months ago. They must have changed something in the characters that are allowed in passwords. I used dot in my password and it stopped working, so I changed the password to not use dot and now it works fine. Try maybe changing the password online to see if it works.

Mine didn't say anything about my password being wrong either. You should call them as I bet they cancelled your card due to fraud just like they did mine. Let us know what happens!

it might be your computer, tell us the password and I can try and enter on my PC to see if it has any problems.

It's a bit more likely you typed in the password wrong rather than the banks database corrupting.

I used secret question to reset my password as well.

But this small flaw in programming disappointed me. It should at least say something like: You tried more than x times with wrong password. and your account will be locked for x amount of times.

This is extremely unprofessional.:(

I wouldn't say it's unprofessional. Giving such information helps intruders too. Be more careful next time.

I've found that the pc financial web app has some flaws for sure. I once had a problem where after I changed my password the web app was spitting out errors directly from a stored procedure in the database. The CSRs simply deleted my profile and I was good to go again. I've been a little irked about their system ever since. I've also seen weird things on my statement like transactions posted in the future.
