I'm in Toronto looking for a cheap place to shoot a game of Pool.
I know down by Ryerson off of Yonge there's a Pool Hall, wondering if they are cheap compared to other places ...
Probably playing in the downtown area but I live in North York.
I suck and I just want to practice by myself or play with a single friend.
Is this possible anywhere?

Ha! Thats right. I've spent so many hours there during spares. It was a given that my buddies would hang out and even study there!

I was thinking schools or community centres must have but I'm willing to pay since I don't know where any are that have pool tables.
Cheaper is better, even if the tables are garbage :cheesygri

Anyone Know if Coronation Billiards is still open on north side Eglington Ave. west of Avenue Rd ? I saw 1500-2000 $ poker pool games there nightly in the 70's.

yup they're still open, ripped felt in all its glory. Isn't pool generally cheap enough to begin with? I dont think i've ever spent more then $10 on pool and thats for about 2 1/2 hours between two people

I'd have no clue. That kinda price would sit fine with me.
I just don't want to go for 2 hours and then turn up with a $50 bill.

Has it gone downhill that much? Used to be a nice place. Do they still get the big money games?

3 years ago when I went there it was a nice place. wasn't the place a bowling alley before it was a pool hall
To the OP
look for newspaper stands in the foyer of bars, get creative with those and play all night ;)

oh yah they still get some big time rollers. I use house cues as breaking cues and coronation doesnt have a single house cue which isn't twisted and warped. Then you have a new problem with rips at the edge of the pocket. I think they only have(had) one decent table and thats the one right beside the bar. They really should take better care of the place, but thats not to say that the place is a dump. It really isn't that bad unless you're a competitive player. But hey, best fries in the city! :D

Most poolhalls I go to are around the $7-$9/hr range. There are some like Rivoli and DnB which are far too expensive, but most are very affordable. Most halls will even have happy hour where up to 6pm it will be half price

Yeah, from all the Pool Players out there, when is the best time to go or when are the best deals available?
I'm probably going to have to make some calls but just curious.
For instance, the best time to bowl is during the day time or early morning on a Sunday ... CHEAP!
Playing Pool ... maybe a completely different story!

Where are you located? Theres a place called Central Billiards on Queen, one block west of Spadina beside the KFC. Its half price during the day so $4.75/hr until 4pm. They have without a doubt the best tables in the city

Are they all 19+? I have never played pool in real life, but would like to, but I am underage.

vip sucks, that place is so expensive. the only places i play are either shooters, times square billiards or danny greens. shooters would be the best since pros play there.
