I have been receiving many bogus second chance offers through ebay, on items that i have lost on. However what has stumped me is how do these frauders get my email address? I dont think you can get email address from ebay if you are not the seller, right? How do these guys get them? Do they just guess?

There is a feature in eBay to send second chance offers...are these second chance offers sent through eBay? how are these bogus second chance offers?

Well i have received legitimate ones through ebay, which are confirmed through "My Ebay" but the bogus emails always say to contact the person directly to complete the transaction. It seemed legit till the person started talking about western union. Almost every big big auction i do, i get these second chance offers, sometimes more than one person trying to scam.

I guess you never experienced these.

If by 2nd chance they will sell u the item outside of ebay, dont do it. A friend got scammed from the seller trying to sell him an item he failed to win outside of ebay.

I never take any second chance offer even if legit. To me its a good sign that the person had a shill raising the bids. Especially when you look at the buyer that beat you on an auction and they don't even get a negative feedback for being a deadbeat.

Second chance offers outside of Ebay are against the rules and the risk of being scammed are very high.

As an eBay seller, I always give second chance offers...that is because I usually have a quantity of more than 1 of the item...
