One of the items on my xmas wish list this year is an exercise bicycle.....the problem is that there are so many different kind out there that I don't know which to pick. Is there anything in particular I need to look out for (i.e. pedals, type of seat etc)? Can anyone recommend a brand etc....price range is about $200.
Thanks.

do you want an upright bike or a recumbant? Decent quality bikes will cost about 400-500. For 200 bucks, you wont find anything new. Try auctions, garage sales etc.. "Brand names" won't be found in your price range, unless they are used. You can hardly find a decent road bike for 200 bucks. If you cant' find anything used then you can always buy an attachment which converts your road bike into a stationary by lifting up the back tires.

I'm looking for something upright...(even though I read that recumbent is easier on the back)...you're the second person to suggest that I check out a second hand bike so I'm going to a used fitness shop this week to see what they have to offer....Canadian Tire has one on special for $99.99 but it will probably break down in no time

to play within your budget, you'll need to buy used, to get a decent bike. Really just look for a sturdy frame, solid construction; the thicker the better. Look for wide based feet and make sure it doesn't wobble.
