Seems like a decent deal.
However, I'm always weary of most FS's Web Only deals as they usually put refurbished or no-name stuff that people would otherwise not consider buying if they're in the store stock.

As for JVC. I've had a 27" CRT TV for 9 years. no problem at all. I can still see the very edge of the screen (image didn't expand like some other TVs I've seen).

I also own a low-end JVC home theatre system. No problem their either.

Costco's 799$ in store Viewsonic is MUCH better.

I have the same concern about purchasing from FS online. They sell refurbished items as new. I recently ran into this issue when I purchased a Virgin Mobile phone from them. When I called customer service the told me it’s best if I kept the phone b/c it would take a month before I got a replacement.

As for this TV. There is limited technical information available on this unit and few customer reviews. However, the contrast ratio is 1000:1 (which is just adequate), apparently there is no DVI/HDMI input and the picture looks sketchy using s-video.

I purchased the higher model JVC 32" (32x576) in March 06. I am very happy with it. As a previous poster said, this TV does NOT have an HDMI input. A bit of a deal killer for me.
I would disagree with the poster who said that the Viewsonic is Much better. I purchased the Viewsonic at Costco and returned it for the JVC. The JVC has a few things going for it that the Viewsonic does not.
1. Stretch modes on the Viewsonic were horrible. Since so much viewing is still stretched 4:3 material, the Viewsonic was unnaceptable (to me) in this regard.
2. JVC picture quality on SD was far superior to the Viewsonic. JVC utliized much better 'upconversion' technology.
3. The viewsonic input switching was horrendous. It took several seconds between each input.

Overall I found my JVC superior in all ways (except price- it was $400 more than the Viewsonic at the time). For $900 I would personally rather have the JVC, but no HDMI may be a problem (You can get an additional $50 off at FS right now using their on line coupon)

Just my 2 cents...
