I was just at Canadian tire and most of their heated car seat cushions are on sale from 30-60% off. The ones with heat & massage function are running $25+ and the one I picked up was electric only.
Posture Perfect Heated seat cushion - plugs into car's 12v cigarette adapter.
SKU 32-1425-8
regular price $39.99 now selling for $11.93
I picked one up and I don't know if it's any good; but for 12 bucks, I'm willing to give it a whirl. Any feedback from anybody else on these items?

they are usually 12v 1 or 2 amps. You can check the boxes that come with dc adapters and see what they call for, it should work then.
I have one similar to this, i got for 10 bux, they are great when it is freezing in the vehicle, as at least your butt is warm. I havent got around to it yet, but you really need to hard wire it in, as it comes with a switch to turn it on, low. high. I have forgot once this year and ended up with a drained battery.
For 12bux you really cant loose.

u can always wire it directly to the same cigarette lighter outlet. its usually quit easy to get behind it and tap into the wires. that way, when the ignition is turned off, the seat will also be.

Yea, the website doesn't have all the sku's and product listed. For example, they don't even list the torque wrench that i bought there today.
The $11.93 heated seat cushion is made by Posture Perfect. It's got a high-low-off setting and fits most bucket/single seats.
Unfortunately, I cannot find a weblink to this product which makes me think that it is a Canadian Tire specific item (probably rebranded.)
It features a 12V car adapter and it operates at 35 Amps. That's all I know about it, sorry. I only bought it today so I don't know how good it might be. I purchased it at the Canadian Tire in Richmond Hill.
I bet you that they'll probably list these items in this week's flyer since they had a ton of them as well as various different heated cushion models.
STILL, $12 for any electronic item is pretty good in my books.

This is not a good idea because not all cars turn off the lighter power when the igntion is off...

I've been using the electric only one for the last two winters. You'll really appreciate it in -25 weather like the last couple of days. Make sure you pick up the one with seat cushion to keep your buns warm.

Also note - if you plan to keep your car for a number of years - you can have electric heaters installed inside your car seats for around $250 a seat. Some auto body/upholstery shops do it. The heaters are controlled by a switch mounted somewhere on your dash/console with most haivng low, medium, high and off settings.
I always thought heated seats were a useless gimmick - until I got a car with them.... Aaaahhhh... warm buns (and lower back) on cold nights.
... mind you I'm in Winnipeg. Current daytime temp -14C. But its a dry cold...

I think it would be 3.5A. 35 Amps is a tad high

35A at 12VDC is only 420 watts.

No, It's this one (pic included). It says it's 12V x 35 Amps and it seems to warm up the seat. It's pretty warm today in Toronto so wasn't able to test it's effectiveness today though.

This seat is an end of line / clearance item. Went to my local Barrie store looking it and the department guy looked it up to find none within 50km with a big "DO NOT ORDER" line on the computer screen. Ahhh nuts. I need a "just heat" model for the winter.

Me too. But for most of the time (and here in Toronto), I switch it off in about 5 - 10 mins at the most.

I checked during lunch - CT rep says he can't sell it to me - there's a recall for it since June - some pads overheated...
I don't know if there was any report case of toasted buns but in light of the info, this might not be such a good deal after all...

35A at 12VDC is only 420 watts.
It can't be 35A.
Most cars are fused at 15A or 20A for the cigarette lighter circuit.
That's why when you buy a 300W inverter, they give you a cigarette lighter adapter for use up to ~150W and battery clamps for user over ~150W.

Alot of these will not warm up with a remote starter due to the fact they have pressure sensors in them to sense someone actually sitting in them before they will come on.
