Alright, as a joke when I was really drunk, I asked a couple girls I know if they wanted to be in a movie ;)

One said yes, however, now all I need is the camcorder. of course, this wont be my only use for it, the other uses will be to record all of our crazy antics when we're trashed... lol. and for anything else really.

Now, all I need is some recommendations.. what camera for a range of $200-$250 is best? what kinds of media do these accept? DVD??? I really know NOTHING about video camcorders but I want to pick one up to mess around with.. who knows, it could be fun (and could be the start of the company that I wanted to make when I was drunk last week on friday night ;))

I probably shouldn't even ask but how much are the ones that record in HD. and how much are the ones that have an HDD or record to DVD? DVD Recording is preferred...

Haha..

You really ARE clueless...

You might be able to pick up a used one for that price range (MiniDV)... For a new one, there is a deal on at Sears right now for a Canon model. Check the Hot Deals forum and you will see the posting. I think it is just under $300 ....

You don't record to a full DVD, they are mini-dvds. I suggest you are better with miniDV instead..

HD camcorders are over $900 at least. HDD camcorders (recording to a hard drive) are at least $700...

Consumer Hi-Def camcorders are only $900?!

I'm also clueless myself. How are the picture quality on consumer level HD camcorders? Comparable to the movie Collateral since Michael Mann did very little (if at all) post production work on the film.
