Ok so my buddy did a format and fresh install and its had nothing but problems. The video drivers were corrupt so I made a disk with drivers and fixed that problem.
Now I have another issue. It seems the built in network card is causing issues. We can't get on the internet with a wired connection. I already looked for drivers for the laptop but its a base model and therefore had no drivers on hp's site. So I tried getting the drivers from one model up, basically the upgrade of the one he has, and still nothing. It said it installed the new hardware and everything was working fine but I still can't connect :/.
Is there some additional software I need? He doesn't have an HP disk to return to factory settings.
