Just wanted to share my input on the Nexxtech Epson R200/300/500/600/620 Continous Ink Supply System (CISS).

I purchased mine from The Source for $59.99. I was lucky to have found the last one in Brampton Trinity Commons.

Throughout my time with the Epson R200 printer, I have only managed to use the original Epson ink, some cheap generic orange pack ink, and now today the CISS.

One of the big advantages over a regular ink cartridge is obviously the size. A regular one holds 30ml (from what I recall, I could possibly be wrong) and the CISS one claims to hold 70ml of ink.

The unit is very secure and there is no way of ink spilling through, unless you happen to remove the plug stopper from the top of the ink and flip it over. Its completely sealed.

As for the ink quality, I am VERY pleased. Original ink is the best obviously.

I have had horrible experience with the cheapass Chinese generic ink for this R200. It is in the orange packaging, look out for it. I have problems of colours coming out wrong when printed. For example if I print out the Canadian flag, the red is not red, but like pink, and the quality is not great. If I print out an image of asphalt, for some odd reason, I see a green cast. Total diaster.

But the Nexxtech system doesn't have this problem. I just test printed a couple of images and all colors are exactly as they should be, and the quality when you look closely is fine and exact, much better than the other chinese generic inks. And the ink doesn't feel wet, it dries quickly.

Installation is straight forward, you follow the quick start guide. A couple of things to note.

- One of the plastic mounting tabs is too thick. When the printer is working, it could possibly knock it over causing problems. I had to cut mine in half and place it near the top of the CD/DVD tray area.

- I had to do head cleaning numerous times to get rid of the air. Make sure you do the same.

- The sticky tape sucks balls. They arent strong enough. Right now I dabbed some 'Amazing Goop' and placed it on before sticking. I have it clamped right now so hopefully in 24 hours, it will be a permanent stick.

I have found the Nexxtech system to cost cheaper @ 59.99 than the ones offered through Tech Direct Canada, and the one at Factory Direct. They are selling those @ 79.99.

Here are some images...

Place this tab up near the top, the image they provide is incorrect. Also the tab has to be broken in half. I almost broke it totally.

Do you need some sort of chip fix on the ink levels... From what I've heard this unit stops after it deems you should be out of ink?

It doesnt stop, it just resets the ink levels.
I have this system too, you'll notice about half way through your ink level that the quality of printing will degrade. And cleaning the head wont fix this.
