ok... i just recently reformatted...

my word is kinda messed up now...

1st off.. line spacing is totally screwed up... i have it set to single line spacing but each line is taking more space... i the problem is that each line (or possibly the characters) are taking up more space vertically... because when i highlight words, it highlights a lot of empty space both below and above it... and i have no idea how to fix this..

2ndly... my ruler is completely screwed up too... previously, the numbers on the ruler were in inches i think... but now it's in like... half-centimeters or something (ruler goes from like 2-44 and it goes by 2s.. ie 2-4-6-8)

how do i fix these problems???

#2 is simple, just go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, GENERAL tab, and under measurements units, select INCHES from the drop down menu.

#1, i am having understanding your problem in the first place...either explain it better or maybe someone will come along who might understand it better.

i wish #2 was that simple... it was the 1st thing i tried but it didn't do anything...

as for #1... ok...

basically... you know in word you can make ur lines single/double spaced etc? well... currently it's set to single space but it still looks likedouble spaced (when i open an old document from before reformat to compare, the old document spacing is less)
when i highlight a word with the mouse... there is a LOT of empty space also highlighted above and below the word...
like you know when you highlight a word, the height of the highlight is slightly taller than your font size right? but when i highlight it, there is a lot of empty space both below and above the highlight that is highlighted
so yea... i can't seem to make it space the lines properly...

under the paragraph, next to line spacing, there are numbers, "Before" and "After", check to see if both are still at "0".

From what i am understanding, this is only happening when you're looking at a new document, if you open an older document, everything seems fine.

Maybe somehow your template for the new document is messed up. Try editing an older document to see if it lets you, i.e. when you press enter at a line, does it move to next line with the right amount of space or a lot more.

If nothing else works out...try reinstalling word/office.

I know this might sound stupid, but just make sure your zoom level is at 100%

hope you figure it out...

This may also work:

Search for a file called: normal.dot

When found, delete it.

This is the default for all word docs. Sounds like your copy has been updated/corrupted.

Launch MSWord, it will automatically recreate the file with default settings.

If all else fails, full uninstall of work and reinstall. But this should help you out!

Cheers,
Tano!
