This might be a stupid question.. but here it goes.
with installing media center on a pc.. will it still have the same functionality as xp pro. Like will i be able to play my games no problem? or does this add more strain on the computer?
thanks

The latest MCE is not the same as XP Pro. It is between XP Home and XP Pro.
You should be okay to run games with no problem.
I can't live with XP Home but I can live with MCE.

The big difference with games is that if you're playing a game and it starts to record a scheduled show, it'll deteiorate your performance a little.
Doesn't really seem to matter on a decent rig though. I've played through recordings even on resource intensive games like Battlefield.

i guess it changed then eh...
i always thought that MCE was an extension of Pro, meaning it had everything Pro has, and then some

It's Pro plus Media related goodies. But it's also Pro minus a few things, the biggest being the removal of the ability to add the machine to a domain.
