Hi all MS WORD gurus..... need your help on doing this "simple" thing please:

I need to a document of unique numbered pages. So basically I need to print out blank pages with numbered footers like:

AB 0000001
AB 0000002
AB 0000003
AB 0000004 ...........etc Note the seven digits format

Now, I thought I got it figured out by using the Page x field, so everytime I start a new page (CTRL-ENTER), it adds it by 1. Then I just type in AB 000000 infront of it.

No problem, until it gets to page 10 or 100 or 1000, the ZEROs infront of the Page x does NOT delete itself of course, so I get:

AB 00000010 which is wrong, it should be AB 000010

So, what can I do ? I can also use Excel if that helps. Doesn't have to be Word, since the document is bascially a blank page.

Thank you all,

Might not be the most efficient way but you could have separate documents.
One for 1-9, another for 10-99, 100-999 and so on.

You know what, that may be the simpliest, easiest solution ! Thank you.

Because I do not want to scroll down to page 9, 99, 999 and delete a zero everytime.

But for knowledge, there must be a way right?
