Hey all, new to pci-express, and am wondering do I snap off that blue piece to fit the video card into the slot ? new mobo, new video card

u need to simply pull it back (or forward depending on mobo) and the card will slide in. u dont rip anything off. that holds the video card in place and without it u have no video card, plain and simple. it WILL slide out without that.

its just like AGP man, its a lock. mobos are different, thats a slip in lock, some slide underneath the section on the video card.

DO NOT RIP ANYTHING OFF.

Is that black thing on the bottom with the same locking arm also PCI-express? SLI/Crossfire board?

yes. its a PCIe x16 slot (you can see it labelled as such on the circuit board). x16 slots are used for video cards.

and LOL don't snap anything off on the mobo!

(x3) NEVER break anything off a motherboard, especially if you don't know what it's for...

And yes, it's a retention clip, they very much simplified it from AGP.
