View Full Version : Snowboard question: Is the Ride Decade for me?

Looks like there are a ton of knowledgable snowboarding gurus on RFD so I thought I'd get some feedback :)

I'm sort of between a beginner and intermediate. I ride mostly freeride - just learned how to link my turns/carve last year and want to invest in some gear (ideally something with room to progress on) so I can really get into it.

Saw a deal for an 2006 Ride Decade for $400 so my two questions are:
1. Is this a suitable board for me, and/or what are some other good boards that would suit my needs. Web reviews seem positive, but I've had trouble finding them. I've seen an Atomic Alibi for the same price, and the reviews seem awesome for it, but would that board be too stiff for me?

2. Is this a good price? From what I've seen, it looks pretty fair for an '06 board

Thanks for you help!

Get the Atomic Alibi, it's a MUCH better board, and if you're freeriding, the stiffness won't be a problem.

There's a reason it won the Transworld Good Wood award three times in a row, when no other board has. For the same price, I'd take the Alibi in a heartbeat.

No argument there UncleRico! :) From web reviews alone it's an outstanding pick. On the Atomic website, the Alibi is listed as one of their highest performing boards (i.e. expert).

No question it's a better board, but is it too much 'better' for someone transitioning from novice to intermediate?

Another board that was mentioned to me by a shop pro was the Option Redline. Thoughts on any/all of the mentioned boards?

Anyone on RFD actually have a Ride Decade they can comment on? Reviews from the web seem pretty sparse.
