Grains – Focus on whole grains include whole wheat, brown rice, oatmeal.

Vegetables – Go for the bright colours ..... the deeper the color, the greater the concentration of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants & look for 100 percent vegetable juice too. Five or more servings a day

Fruits – Go for fresh, canned, frozen, dried etc........ but not too much fruit juices that are high in natural sugars. Five or more servings a day

Milk and other dairy – Go fat-free or low-fat dairy

Meat and beans – Include fish, poultry, eggs, beans, peas, nuts and seeds, and lean red meats

Also go to Google and look up Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, and check out info on Mediterranean Diet and the Healthy Diet Pyramid on the Internet for starters.

Do some of your own research on-line.
