I just dropped by Costco today and noticed they now carry Bosch products. They have the Bosch Nexxt washer for 1179 and dryer for 899. Pretty good price I believe.

Do you know which models you have the prices for in the Nexxt series? There's quite a few:
Washers: http://www.boschappliances.com/category525.html
Dryers: http://www.boschappliances.com/category536.html

I didn't get a chance to look at the model number but i believe the washer/dryer is the 500 series (model WFMC3301UC/WTMC3321US).

I bought the Bosch Nexxt Premium last year for $3000. This is a GREAT set, largest capacity for a front loader/dryer and worth the money IMO.

Bosch is usually overpriced but the price for the washer is a hot. The dryer price seems just okay at $800 ... has there been any latest advances in dryer technology here?
It looks stackable ... is the stacking kit included? Sometimes they charge $40 for a couple of brackets.

From what I saw, I don`t think this set is stackable. The controls are on the top of both the washer and dryer.

I believe Bosch makes very good products, my parents bought a bosch dishwasher thought it was on the expensive side. Finally it broke after 10 years of use. I had to wait for the repairman to come to their house. As soon as he walk in he commented "oh its a Bosch probably just the power cord" and sure enough it was the $1.98 power cord that needed to be replaced from opening and closing it so much. I ask how often does he repair Bosch dishwasher and he said very rarely and pretty much its always the power cord....plus his company is the only one that services them in my city.

I was about to buy this but then saw it's at sears for $799 so not that much of a deal.

Anyone have experience with this model? Is it quiet?
Thanks in advance.

We have the Bosch dishwasher, the Bosch wall oven, and the Bosch gas cooktop. They were installed in 1994. These products are expensive, look great, but BREAK all the time.
In the dishwasher,
a: the little plastic wheels that the top rack rolls on get eroded by the dish detergent and end up breaking. Replacement cost is $60.00 for the 4 wheels and it needs to be done every 3 years.
b: The wiring inside the door also needed fixing, cost $180.
c: There is no way to turn off the electric drying coil, so it uses a lot of energy.
Our previous dishwasher, a Kitchen Aid, worked great for years without needing any repairs. We only replaced it because we remodelled the kitchen.
In the wall oven,
a: the fan that cools the electronics has been replaced twice and is still really noisy.
b: The buttons that control the clock don't work.
c: The springs that support the door needed to be replaced and the cost for the parts alone was over $160.
d: The bulbs for the oven are only available from Bosch and cost $25.00 each. Oven needs two.
e: The unit has no light to tell you when the oven has warmed up, so you don't know when you can put in your food.
In the gas cooktop
a: The automatic lighting system has only worked sporadically for the last 10 years, and the repairman did not recommend trying to repair it as the sparking units are fragile and could easily break, triggering a much higher repair bill, so we just keep a BBQ lighter beside the cooker for when we need it, which is most of the time.
b: One of the plastic knobs has broken so it doesn't turn on the gas when you turn the knob. The inside of the knob has cracked and doesn't grip the shaft of the valve.
Our previous stove, a Fridgedaire, worked great for many years without needing any repairs at all.
These units have only been used for family meals, no heavy commercial use or anything. I would recommend that anyone looking at Bosch think very carefully before spending their money. Not everything coming from Germany is well built or well designed. These units are fragile and cost a lot to fix, and they don't necessarily work as well as North American brands. Just because they come from the land of BMW's doesn't mean they are good quality.
My parents bought a General Electric stove in 1951, and they are still using it. The only fault in all that time is one knob that broke off.

Since you buy from Costco, you don't need to worry about it, anything goes wrong, just return it.:)

I saw in a local newspaper (montreal) not on the web , Germain Larivière (http://www.germainlariviere.com) advertise them at 1999 $ Tx INCLUED for the Bosch Nexxt Washer/Dryer . I don't know if the shipping is inclued but could be ( Costco is not inclued for shure).
I have a Bosch Dishwasher and never had a problem with it (6 years old) and very quiet. i' m very happy and will probably buy bosch again for the washer and dryer.

Returning a washer / Dryer back to costco, the transportation of the units back to costco is an effort and a half, not light products (not for everyone and not everyone have a truck).
And yes for sure the Bosch product is a very good quality... parts are harder to get (you could wait for weeks).
Corbiel sometime have good sales on and includes delivery and removal of old washer/dryer, usually can match any price.
Oh' I saw in the paper (Ottawa citizen) Colonial Furniture had a sale on Maytag Neptune front load washer and dryer for $1699 pair.
I believe Maytag is the only washer that has the door rubber boot draining hose right at the bottom (drains properly), other brands' drain hose is placed an inch higher so it never drains all the water and become sticky water and moldy if not cleaned after every wash load.
This is a big deal for many people who don't like the hassle of cleaning the door boot every time.

Consumer Report rates Maytag as the LEAST reliable washer/dryer on the market (Almost twice as many repairs as the other brands). When I shopped for mine a month or so ago many salespeople told me to stay far away when I said I was looking for reliable machines that give me the best 'bang for my buck'. The even steered me towards less expensive models. The civil lawsuit against Maytag should be self explanatory.
Also, the door boot on front load washers does not need to be wiped down if you use chlorine bleach to do your whites. Additionnally it is recommended to leave the doors of front load washers open when not in use....even the Maytags.

Speaking of the Consumer reports, they rate the LG wm2588 as the best in terms of water usage and power consumption. Anyone wanta comment on that? it's expensive (>2k for the washer) but people are saying it'll save you money in water and electricity in the long run.

I picked up top of the line Frigidaire washer/dryer (Affinity) for $1500 (or thereabouts minus 20% off gift cards etc...) but let's use $1500
The cheapest 3.3cu ft front load LG's I negociated down to $2100 (washer and dryer)
So $600 difference
This is according to the EnergyStar website
Average annual water comsumption
Frigidaire 6100 gallons/yr
LG 5200 galons/year
Water here is 77.5 cents/cubic metre.
1 cubic metre = 1000 litres = 220 gallons
Difference of 4 cubic metres...so $3/yr with regards to water
Average annual electricity consumption
Frigidaire 240kWh/year
LG 190kWh/year
For electricity I pay $0.084/kWh (incl. delivery etc...etc..)
So $20 for the Frigidaire and $16 for the LG...so $4/yr electricity difference
So there's a diiference in operating costs of $7/yr....and a $600 price tag difference. So in 86 years you'll be saving money by having purchased the LG...:cheesygri

well think of the environment :) also it dries better, clean faster (half the time, sometimes more. Whether it's cleaner or not is subjective), and it got remote monitoring tool (granted, it's 300$)
The WM2588 got steam, and it can get rids of the wrinkles.
And did i mention noise, and that nice lcd screen and the cool interior blue light while it's running :)

Ever try washing things that float? Like comforters or down jackets in a top load?
If you add in $100+ a year in saved dry-cleaning the difference drops faster.:)

Thanks for the info on the Bosch. I currently have a Kenmore front load, and while I love front load.. the Kenmore is already leaking badly out of the bottom - can't figure out why, or where the leak is coming from - and it's only 5 years old. If anyone can give me any ideas where the leak might be coming from? (I'll be looking into the Bosch for sure! - Sears isn't exactly speedy at repairing.)

Is your Kenmore = Whirlpool. Is it made in Germany? I heard those German made washers are quite good.

All appliances you buy here in North America these days are complete CRAP with perhaps the exception of some of the newer Korean brands like LG and Samsung who are new to the business and want to build consumer confidence with their products. When it comes to many of the traditional brands like Frigidaire, Maytag, Bosch, Inglis, it's all about the bottom line. These guys have comprimised so much in quality in recent years, every part in these units is made in mexico or china, and the machines are engineered to only last 5 years. These companies want these things to become like Tvs where they are consumable, just toss it and buy this years latest glowing do-dad Diswasher.
