Depending on the pill it should be okay. If she forgets maybe she should use the Nuvaring. I've used it and my ex' did even know I was using it until i told him. Ask her doctor about it. Also ask the pharmacy about the pill she is on. they will know if you need proection or not.

I don't think 1 or 2 hours makes a difference. But check with the pharmacy if you are uncertain. Didn't her pharmacist give her a little info pack when she first started taking the pill? And remember, the pill doesn't protect against STIs.

one or two hours will not matter.
however, if she just started on the pill (i.e. in the past month) you should still be using protection, until one cycle is done.

As everyone said, couple hours don't matter. But if she was to completely miss 2 in a row, then you have a problem.

Get your chick on the patch. That way she NEVER forgets, and you never have to worry about the party juice.

Keep an eye on her blood pressure. Birth control pills love to increase it.

If you really want to be safe instead of just trusting others, just read the insert that comes with the package, or type the name into Medline Plus (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation.html) or other sites and most of them will give detailed info on what to do if you miss a dose.

Your doctor was probably looking at studies done in the USA, the patch in Canada is actually different and safer

A better way is to do it with a different girl.

And if she still gets pregnant... we have a problem.

It's safe. But she'll gain weight if she goes off of the pill. That's a side effect most ppl don't think about when they're on the pill.

Unless you and your gf have been tested negative for STDs, and that you're 100% sure she's faithful to you, then you really should be using protection.

What?????

Do you have any university or medical related training to back that up??

Why do people insist on giving advice when they don't know anything?

Ignore what everyone else is telling you

let me know what birth control pills she is using, and what week she was in

as Type-S emphasized, you shouldn't be asking a medical question here... consult your nearest pharmacist regarding the handling of your girlfriend's missed dose. each hormonal contraceptive has its own guidelines regarding the handling of missed doses, so getting an medically sound answer is important. no, you don't have to consult your doctor (but if he's easily accessible, then by all means go ahead), pharmacists have been trained in counseling for these drugs.

examples of varying ways in handling missed dosages can be exemplified by using Alesse's monograph as an example; they say that it depends on whether you started on a sunday. did you forget during the first week, second, or third? how many pills dipd you miss? I know this is not really relevant to your case, but it should give you an example of how complicated it can be and why you should be consulting a health professional instead of a forum :). I'm assuming that since it has occurred a few days ago or what not, if you are in doubt, use an alternative form of contraceptive such as condoms.

if you fear that your girlfriend may be at risk for impregnation, go see your local pharmacist as soon as possible; there are things called emergency contraceptives which, if used within the first 72hours, can decrease the likelihood of pregnancy dramatically (the earlier you get it after unprotected sexual intercourse, or contraceptive failure, the higher probability that impregnation would not occur). After 72hours, ECs are not effective. "Plan B" is available over the counter without a prescription.

oh and sorry to hijack this thread, but hey type-S, i noticed this post

"you don't need a 'certificate' to be a Pharmacist. It's a second entry professional program, exactly like Medicine and Dentistry
in the US and in Canada soon, all pharmacy degrees are Doctorate level

and they make WAY more than $20/hr...as a Pharmacy Student I make that much"

you wouldn't happen to also be at leslie dan as well would you? :D *sees the GTA in your location*

There is always the option of her getting the Depo-Provera shot as well. Lasts for three months. Ask the doctor or pharmacist for more info. As already stated though, other than abstinence, condoms are the only contraceptive that will protect against diseases.

Because this is an off-topic forum. It's entertainment.

If you like to demonstrate your superior knowledge obtained from university or medical related training, and gain a sense of self-worth, put on a lab coat and go to work. This is not the place.
