Where can I find out how much profit a company made, basically their financial documents. Are the online somewhere, is there an archive? Would a library have them? Basically what they release every financial period, I dunno what its called, but the only thing I know is close to it is that Enron lied on theres and everyone saw it. hope someone can help. Thanks

I always thought it was the off-balance sheet stuff that brought down enron...
For canadian companies, go to sedar.com
For us companies, go to sec.gov/edgar.shtml

try company's website, if it's a public company there should be a section (usually under Investor Relations) where you'll find financial releases & annual reports.

If you need annual reports from 30 years ago, I think you need to contact the company and ask them for it.....you may have to pay a lot of money to get them....
for recent filings...
check
company websites (investor relations)
http://finance.yahoo.com
http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html

But I mean its not like the company has anything to hide right. They were always open to the public, am I correct?

Would I need to go to a specific one? Because im sure all of them wont have then. Would I need to go to a library in Toronto?

check the individual company's website in investor relations section like another poster said. i've seen sites with 2 years of annual reports.
or call the Toronto Reference Library on Yonge St. to see if they have the ones you need. when i looked for annual reports back in the 90's, they had hard copy reports to use. not sure how far back the reports go.
is there a Mississauaga Reference Library or a main library?

Public filings MUST be filed on SEDAR in Canada and EDGAR in the US.
Those two sources will contain all the information you need. EDGAR is a pain to navigate however, and most industry practicioners never access EDGAR directly.

From 30 years ago to today? Forget it, your best bet is to contact the Investor Relations' department and ask them to send you hard copies or fax. It's extremely unlikely that they will have converted older documents to electronic format.
