I'm talking about people with a 1000 posts or something who are intelligent and are always on the net answering peoples questions. Are these disabled people who dont have a job and girl friend? I just wonder because these people are adding so much value and are getting no compensation. The injustice kind of annoys me. Some times I think they might be burn victims and cant leave their house or something.

Well, you wouldn't be talking about users like me who just regularly contribute since I don't have any "Specialities" to bring to the board (But I do try to help since I get so much back from it!) but I can say that yes, I officially have no life.

Have a girlfriend, go to school but both suffer unfortunately (which has to change since I have EXAMS coming!!!).

I agree though, I too wonder. WHO ARE THE KNOWN BUT UNKNOWN MEMBERS OF THIS SITE?!?!

Stay tuned ...

I used to have a girlfriend. (Unrelated to rfd posting btw) As you can see some people with many posts simply joined a long time ago.

The injustice kind of annoys me.

If the injustice annoys you so much feel free to contribute to my "Carnage burn assistance" fund. PM me for paypal info.

These burn treatments don't pay for themselves you know.

I don't think you need to get too worked up, we're all pretty normal. I'm just your everyday, run of the mill, transgender-quadriplegic-siamese-twin-blind-deaf-mute-bubbleboy.

So I do this when I'm not building houses for those in need of a little help.

White collar workers with boring jobs and students procrastinating are the backbone of every Internet community. ;)

I joined like 3 years ago and only have 1400 something posts. I'm ashamed =(

Now onto a different matter, I also have no life and I spend much more time reading than posting on redflags. Then again, I work graveyards and there just mpt really always something to do.

I have >1K but I also joined 3 yrs ago. I have a fiancee, great job and damm good life.

I don't mind answering questions and helping people out, mostly because it doesn't cost me much time or difficulty. I'm at a desk 3-4 days per week so taking 30 mins to read some of this is no better/worse than a smoking break :)

as for compensation, hey, I'm paid while doing this.

Agreed. I get a lot from these forums; hot deals, support from fellow contesters (still trying for the Pepsi/Doritos HDTV!!!!) and giggles from all you crazy people in Off-Topic. I don't mind answering questions, we're all here and why not help out someone in the RFD community? :)

I am not a burn victim

I have had my current girlfriend for > 3 years

I have a social life

I am a student, no job atm, but I have enough cash to last over a year with my current spending habits.

I have full movement of my limbs, contrary to your beliefs

I post on RFD when looking for deals, or to help contribute to the deal community.

I have a Santa hat avatar ;)

I believe you are talking about MJM or B40 or that girl who posts > 20 / day.

Answer: There are no normal people on RFD.lol.. what is normality is a better question. =P

I think its better to be on RFD anyways. Save money, cool toys/gadgets for cheap = more money to spend on going out. ;)

I also agree that I am mostly on at work. =P.

I've been around a bit. I am currently in England furthering my studies and reading RFD makes me feel like I'm home. Makes me feel less home sick...

Gf? Nah, I'm a loner.

This is just an online water cooler. I mean I don't actively try to raise my post count with stupid threads or anything. It just got to be where it is...

Well, OP, you guessed it right. I'm stuck in my bed and cannot go anywhere. I weigh 900lbs and cannot move without a mini-crane. My arm weighs more than the average human leg so I can't even type without running out of breath.

I don't have friends any more because they can't get into my room - you see, I live in a 10X10 storage room and if it weren't for the room limiting my size I'd be over 1000 lbs in a month.

I collect coupons from RFD (notable the Sushi on 7 coupon). I use that once in a while when I hire a cube van to take me to the restaurant (the wall has to come down so I can get out). I eat until the owner comes out begging me to leave.

If it weren't for RFD I'd die of boredom.

*posts to check his post count*

Just a tad over 2500...I never really look at it..I could have had 500 or 5000 and wouldn't have known.

I post when I want to, or when I can contribute. ALot of my posts are from back in teh day when rfd was pretty much just deals. SInce then I have progressed (as it where) and only primarily read financial, careers, home, etc. I never check the deals and only wander into offtopic a bit.

so yeah...I guess I have a life.

Although I'm not at 1000 posts yet.....

+1 for procrastinating...and +1 for white collar worker

Hell the above is the main reason why I joined RFD, loved the community and to contribute.
I do however attempt to have somewhat of a life...it works 1/2 the time...hence, low post count

White collar workers with boring jobs and students procrastinating are the backbone of every Internet community. ;)

when i first joined i thought it was just a online classifieds.
MY goal was to hit 1000 post to give me some credibility on the b/s/t's as some people were reluctant to buy.....
9,900 post later....

I'm almost normal ;)

I'm married and work around 60-70 hours a week - I use RFD as a break from the long hours, although I do look for deals every now and then.

At the same time, I've gone 4, 6, and 8 month spans without posting on RFD. It's something that I do for awhile, and then lose the need to post, and just lurk.

But it definitely helps if you can type 90 words per minute or higher. I can't see a hunt and pecker taking the time to even register for any forum.

Yeah, I go in spurts as well.

I pretty much lurk, with the exception of the Leafs thread and the odd thread which peaks my interest.

I find it far too tiring to try and keep track of every thread. So I don't bother trying anymore.
