I have a rogers sim card and I was just wondering if i can go to one of the Rogers associates in the store and ask them to activate the sim card under a pre-paid plan. Is that allowed?

Yes. Of course.

Use any brand new Rogers sim card to activate any rogers cellphone. Pay As You Go.

You can activate it yourself online:

Yes, you can even call it in and have a Customer Service Representative activate it for you over the phone, theyre open 24-7 now

You can do it. But they can at their discretion charge you a service fee. It isn't a fee charged by rogers, but by the local merchant. If you go to a TSCC store they'll probably charge you. If you go to a disgruntled looking employee at a rogers video or somewhere you may be in luck.

You can do it online or by phone and it will not cost you anything to activate it.

Lets say i activate my phone online but using a non-rogers bought phone,k750i, I use the k750i's IMEI number and a brand new sim card number, would i still be able to activate it under a pay as you go plan? has anyone done this?

i am 80% sure that you can activate any GSM phone with any Rogers Sim card & it will work. I activated Sony Ericsson T637 which wasn't on their list when you activate it because it is old. But, I chose "Other GSM".

the store doesnt "activate" the phone, they merely activate the "SIM" but to activate the SIM, their system Asks which phone you will be using it for, and the store rep DOES need to enter a Valid Rogers IMEI, but it also allows a Generic one such as 111111111111119 to be entered. So BlueX your 80% is now more like 100%.

I would think that they would love it if you did that. Not only are they getting your business by setting you up with an account but they dont have to offer you any phone discount. Its all profit for them.

I have done the activating services online but i haven't got anything yet, they said that they would send a email regarding activation steps within 24 hours but I did it 2 days ago and, nothing. Have any of you guys activated your sim card online, and if you have, how long did it take for it to compete?

I activated my sim online 4 days ago, the website said i have to call them in order to complete the activation process.

I called them, provided IMEI (phone serial number), SIM number, some personal information and PIN/secret code and my phone was able to call the next 3 minutes.

BTW, i called 1800-575-9090 and have it done as mentioned above.

Good luck ;)

I too tried to activate my phone online..a Nokia 5140i..just received an email with this automate response: "Your order has been submitted; however we are unable to activate your phone at this time. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your phone is activated" ..

So I guess I don't need to call them anymore to confirm the activation..?
