I got my hands on some Best Buy GC's, I'm looking into the new Intel Core 2 Duo 24" iMac. Am I missing anything by not buying it at the Apple Store like the Apple Care? Have they ever put this on sale or have some type of promotion/discount?

Isn't the Apple store cheaper with the educational discount?
The main thing you are missing out on is the possibility of a video upgrade. Systems from Best Buy will only have a 7300GT board.
I just bought a 24" iMac direct from Apple. I ordered a custom configuration, 2GB RAM and 7600GT video. It shipped out only 2 days after placing the order and arrived 3 days later. Not bad considering it was free shipping from Shanghai, China.

I'm not a student, besides got the GC cheap.
It's for personal use, your basic QuickTime, Movies and DVD use. Is it worth upgrading to NVidia 7600GT? What about Sales and Promotion, my cousin said she only saw them include a Printer Package?

Dont buy the bestbuy/futureshop warranty, just buy the applecare warranty. There's no difference, you have the same 1 year warranty, 90 days phone support or 3 years warranty/3 years phone support if you buy the apple care. You can take that to any apple certified ___ (forgot the name lol). They will repair it if its broken or charge you if its not covered in the warranty. You can buy the apple care within 1 year of the purchase date, you can buy the apple care anywhere as long as its the apple care for that product.

I'm not currently a student either, though they took my expired student ID number. Apple doesnt have any decent promos at the moment that I know of. The last good one was the free iPod Nano offer that ended back in Sept.
In your case I suppose a 7600GT probably wont do you any good at the moment. Would probably be good for Core Animation in the next version of OSX though. Windows Vista would probably be happier as well if you are planning on using Boot Camp.

Definitely agree with that. I'm pretty sure Applecare is the same price if not cheaper and the service is generally better/faster. I believe Applecare even provides onsite service for desktops, though in the past I've always just brought it in to a dealer.

Didn't even think about Bootcamp & Vista. I guess I'll hold on to the Best Buy GC's and pick it up at Apple since I have to upgrade the Video Card. Time to look for my Student ID. LOL
Thanks!

If your ordering online you only need your student number.

It worked! LOL
Placed my order, $200 off and the upgrades are cheap too. Just $82 to upgrade to NVidia 7600GT, $191 for 2GB of RAM and only $139 for 3 years Apple Care.
Can't wait. :cheesygri
