I have the opportunity to get an LG5450 flipphone for nearly nothing from a friend who just bought a whole new phone and plan. It's telus and my idea was to buy the $75 Pay and Talk activation kit to get it going.
Are there any pay and talk phones (any service provider) which cost less than $100 and come with a phone that it anywhere near as good as this phone? I've looked at the cheap Virgin phones and general concensus seems to be that the phones themselves suck and aren't worth getting. All i'm interested in is sound quality and reception as this is going to only be used occationally (less than 30 minutes a month). I don't really care that the 5450has a camera.
There was a thread recently here about which pay and talk plans were the best and both virgin and Rogers seem to have a nice $100/year plan which is all fine and dandy (telus is $10/month so $120/year) but if the cheap phones all suck then it's not worth it to me. And if i have to pay more than $100 to get the phone then i might as well stick with this LG.
