I have a Brother HL1230 that prints dirty prints.........I think it is the drum kit. Anyway of cleaning the drum kit so that prints come out without toner or shades ?

The toner ran out years ago, any place to get cheap toner and if needed a drum kit ?

Or should the unit be tossed? It has been used for about a year long time ago and is sitting gathering dust.

Actually they dont even let us know info like that

Each OEM has a few different toner type. and some times even with different part number. the product is 100% the same

such as

Brother TN200 = TN 5000
Some Canon Toner Cartridges are exactly the same as some HP Cartridges and the price different is huge.

there are Compatable cartridges that we can get but it is best to use original since you get more prints and there are less defective

1)Yes we are HP authorized, and we have reps come in to teach us all those info. the true-to-live vibrant color is actually special.
HP is one company that does actually spend millions on research to stay ahead of the game.

2)Yes. each manufacturer does their own special ink/toner. for bigger company like Canon, HP, and Xerox actually have very very special Toners that they make to work with the drum inside the cartridges. and as for ink. they make a special ink that works best with the print heads and the machine inself.

3) Ink/Toner doesnt go bad, but keep inmind that Ink does dry up. Toner will not dry up, or go bad if you keep it in a cool place. not to metion that Original Cartridges has life time warranty from us company (not sure about other companys policy)

I am not into refill that much but if you can find a special type of ink refills from Staples or other places like that. doing it yourself would be the cheapest cause Inks are cheap. its the labor thats expensive

The Toner you should be using is TN 430 = 3000 Pages or the TN 460 = 6000 Pages.
TN430 - Business Depot = $90 our price $56.75 Both Original
TN460 - Business Depot = $117 our price $75.50 Both Original

it sounds like the Drum is gone, and there is no way you can clean it since the life of the drum is finished. its actually not getting dirty, its just not charging any more so its picking up toner where its not suppose to.
the Drum Cartridges that you need is a DR400 Drum.
Staples sells it for something like $200
we sell them for around $136.50 Original Brother Product

so in order for your machine to work like new again it would cost you around $180 for the next 3000 pages or $210 for the next 6000 Pages.
The drum would work for around 20,000 Pages

Thats why I never recommend any of my customers to buy a Brother.

Its hard to just give you an answer to that question about Quality of refills....

if I would have to give you an answer to that question. the answer would be, it depends who does it. For ink jet cartridges. if the sealed is screwed up or the ink they use sucked. then you just got yourself a lemon.

for Toner Cartridges. there are 2 versions

Bottle toners without a drum cartridge attached - those are easy since you just fill out the damn bottle with toners, the quality of those will depend on if they put the right toner in there. (different machine have a different temp to melt the toner. if they put in the right toner then you should have no problems using those refills) if they put in the wrong toner. some times you will smell burning, or if the melt temp is higher then what the machine gives. excess toner dust (from the toners that didnt melt) will be on the page.

Toner Cartridges - with drum inside the cartridges (for example all HP Printer Cartridges). Those are the tracky stuff. Since you cant just drill a hole in those and put toner in there and expect them to work. you will have to put a new drum in there, a new computer chip (they have now learn to shut the toner out when the toner is empty and kill the cartridge with the chip), and the hardest part is, you cant just take out a few screws to open the cartridge up. there are no screws. its all molded together. so you will actually have to cut everything up and glue everything back together. thats why there is such a high defective rate on those referbish cartridges. There is only 2 company that I will trust with those referbish cartridges.

1.) Is there a real difference in price per page for inkjet printers

2) Does DPI really matter when companies are advertising now 9600 dpi, isn't commercial printing only 300dpi anyway?

3.) Do HP #2 ink carts have the head built in?

4.) Do new canon printers that use the number 8's and 5, and 40/41 50/51 have the heads on the cartidge, or are they like previous lines?

5.) How would you rate current consumer manufactures from 1 to whatever.

1) Yes, since our cost price is different in every ink jet cartridges. and each cartridges have a different Yield.

2) wow 9600 dpi? are you sure thats not a print error?

3) Yes. the HP 02's are all included. problem is, you need to buy 6 cartridges in order for the Pinter to work. Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta.

4) Do you have Part numbers of those Ink Jets? My book doesnt show #8 #5 etc.

5) Lets just say that if I was to get something for myself. I will get HP, Canon, Lexmarks. and will never buy a brother machine.
(everything in between are okay too, but HP is always my first choice)

-Actual output on printers (photo inkjets) are usually 1200dpi. 9600dpi is on high gloss photopaper, which is missleading
-plus, check out the ink volumes on the 02's (~5ml)
-the 8 & 5 cartridges are the newest canon individual ink cartidges for printers like the ip4200 or MP830, they do NOT have heads built on. The 40/41, 50/51 DO have heads built on them, and are more expensive.
-I wouldn't buy lexmark or brother ink based printers

Why do you hate brother's so much? My parents and I both own them. Theirs has worked great for years and gone through about 4 TN-460 toner cartridges without a drum change. At $75 for a 6000 page toner cartridge, that's a hard value to beat.

Although I must admit I haven't been as lucky. I'm getting 2 faint horizontal black lines on my pages, so I think the drum probably needs replacing. I've had it for 3 years, but it hasn't really been used all that much.

So is it just their reliability that you don't like? From a value perspective they seem to be top notch.

yup. I wouldnt nether. but I was talking about Laser Printers. I wouldnt even touch a Lexmark Laser 2-3 years back. but it seems like they are doing okay in the pass couple of years and they have lowered their toner prices by a lot.

I guess it was a number of things. the cost of a DR400 use to be close to $200. and remember. I base everything on office users. Home users can and will get lucky cause you guys have such small usage. 4 TN460 in 3 years is not bad. great value for sure. (since you didnt have to pay an extra $200 for drums)

try making a customer happy when they have to order 4 toners a month and a Drum thats over $200 (while they werent told that they had to change the drum when they got the machine at Business depot for $300 ) lol

in some model numbers. once your put in the toner, most of the toner will go inside the drum. and if you drum is gone right after you have changed your toner. guess what. you just got scammed $75 lol (some times is only $40 or so) but you get what I mean.

and some times all the lights and error messages are all messed up. Toner light might come on when in fact you actually need a drum etc... (but they are the cheapest out of all machines so I guess you get what you pay for)

and if you use some of the lower models in an office. expect them to die after a few months if its a busy office. for some reason, brother users dont do research before they buy those machines.

Yeah, and it sure doesn't help when you've got PC world telling people that the top two monochrome laser printers that you can buy is a brother. (I blame Brother for their false advertising of their products, not PC world) http://pcworld.com/article/id,123860-page,1/article.html

We have an OLD HP Laserjet5 taking up space in our home office. Out of desperation (no toner in any of four printers), I used it yesterday for the first time in years. It fired up, and printed quite well.

There are three lines accross the pages, so I emailed a few places to see what it would cost to repair it *tune it up* Only one responded, is it worth it??? How much would toner cost me...eventually. Or should I find a new networked on (we run 6 pc's here, the bulk are the kids though)

Yes, we do provide service for laserjet printers. Our rates are as follows,
On-Site 75.00 per hour, plus parts.
Depot/You Drop-Off/Pickup, 60.00 per hour, plus parts.
We usually repair/clean most printers within 1 hr.
Pickup rollers are between 10 and 20.00
A fuser assembly is 89.96
A cartridge is 79.00
If there is a print quallity problem, it is usually the cartridge or the
fuser, usually not both.
Turn around time is about 1-2 days.

Do you have a suggestion/opinion for a Multifunction laser printer for a small office (expected ~ 20,000 prints / year).

Conditions would be 1) toner is refillable; 2) includes fax/flatbed copying/printer 3)relatively compact.

Oh yes, since this my own business; price is of issue :)

Thanks,

For something like that, You'd probably want an HP one.. they are the only ones I would trust to do 2,000 odd pages a month.. Hell even my Laserjet 3050 is rated for 7,000 monthly volume and only cost me about $220 after taxes. It doesn't have a flat bed though.. you'll need a 3052, 3055 or 3390 (http://shopping.hp.ca/cStoreCA/Bases.asp?PType=72&ProductLineId=73&FamilyId=185&BEId=5&Lang=EN)..

the website says yes but id like to make sure :) because in the first page of this thread you said "Toner Cartridges - with drum inside the cartridges (for example all HP Printer Cartridges). so my question is can i just buy it and stick it in my printer?

I own a HP 3390 (I bought it just two months ago for $369 + tax after $481 discount/rebates :D). It's a good monochrome laser MFC with fax, scanner, copier, and printer functions. It has a network card built into it and it also supports automatic double sided printing. I would recommend it for any small business.

I also have a question for the OP. I have a Brother MFC-4350 printer. Recently, it started printing out streaks of white lines. Is there a fix for this? I assumed that the drum was dead so I bought a new printer (HP3390) because the cost to replace the drum on the Brother is quite expensive.

Hi, I have to buy a multifunction which has good colour photo print resolution, scans good and is not too expensive on inks - prefer refillable cartridges.
I guess it would be an inkjet rather than laser. But I am not sure of the make/ model. I have thought of HP Photosmart 6180 or Canon Pixma 600 series /800 series, but not sure. Your comments please.

Previously, you say you do approve the HP5610 for home use. Define home use. How many pages/year does that translate into?

I must get myself a printer. I print less that 50 pages/year and realize laser printer is the way to go since toners does not dry up like what injet does. I wonder if the HP5610 would suit me too.

I've got an old HP Laserjet 4500N, and need to replace the yellow toner soon. Are there acceptable aftermarket toners? or would I need to track down an original? Can they be refilled in that model? I've seen prices fluctuate very widely for toner carts for that model. Otherwise, I love that old clunker. Now, if only I could find a printer stand that would hold it.

I have 2 opinion questions.

1. What is your opinion on samsung laser printers?
2. What is your opinion on the Epson Aculaser CX11N??

Thanks.

Samsung laser printers are cheap on refill and it's easier to find them for aftermarket cartridges. Their quality are good.

About the Epson Aculaser CX11N, one thing you should know ALL Epson printers are possibly one of the best brand if you're looking for quality. But the replacement and supply parts are expensive and are not easy to find aftermarket parts for it.

i have a question.

PM me, there's a simple and cheap solution for that.

Any idea if those Continuous Ink System (CIS) are worth it ?? Seems like a good idea and they are really popular in Asia.

Yes they are worth it if you do alot of printing but only get them for 2 brands, Epson and Canon. I have tried many other CIS for Lexmark, HP and Brother printers and they're all poorly built.

Hi there, I've got a question for you. I'm looking to get a proper All-in-One monochrome laser printer. I'm leaning either towards the Brother MFC 8860DN or the HP 3390 (or 3392, I don't know what the difference is). A client of mine (I do IT consulting) has a 3390 and has had issues with the network connectivity on it (it broke), and the buzz on the Brother seems pretty positive, although in reading through here, you mentioned a strong dislike for Brother.

Basically, I'm after a quality unit that I can hook up via ethernet and still be able to scan (I think that counts out the HP 3355). I'm not firm on my above choices either, those are just two that stuck out while researching.

My needs will be basic small office stuff; I'm not into heavy-duty printing and I can't see a need for colour.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Hijack answer :)

Both Brother and HP laser printers are reliable and gives you premium quality when it comes to monochrome. But you're absolutely right, it is a hard choice between the two. And i'm surprise your client's having problem with his hp 3390. A buddy of mine has the same machine and is working like a charm. Possibly a defect? Anyways, if you're choosing inbetween the two I would probably choose the Brother MFC 8860DN simply because Brother is a better name for small office usage comparing to HPs. Most people will agree with me that Brother laser printers last for years!!! It wouldn't give you the same problems that HP does. But did you ever consider about having a MFC-7820N
My office has a 7820N and it's been going on for 2 years, recieving many fax orders everyday, changed over 5 toner cartridges and is still using the same imaging drum.

Thanks.

Hey OP. I never did see an answer to my old question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey OP. I never did see an answer to my old question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That cartridge can be refilled, but you have to look for the right toner. From what i can remember, that cartridge has a chip right? Therefore you'll need to find someone who can either reset the previous chip or buy a brand new one.

I honestly do not recommend people refilling color toners mainly because the aftermarket companies haven't exactly reach to my acceptable level yet.(quality not very good) However i know lots of people doing it because of the cost.

There are actually lots of stores doing it in GTA, you can shop around. Why don't you tell me the price you're looking for and i'll see if I can find any trustable store to recommend you to go to.

Hello,

I recently purchased an Epson CX6000 printer. I didn't realise it uses those new micro chip cartridges.

I want to buy refill in kits. Where in the GTA can I find auto reset cartidges for my printer?

Hello,

TIA

The newer epson uses the the 69X or other series doesn't have a chip resetter in the market at the moment. And I wouldn't recommend filling that type of cartridge either. Ever since they started the slim single line of cartridge i don't recommend people to refill the cartridge. Simply because if there is a air bubble stuck inbetween the cartridge and the printer head it could easily cause the printerhead to clog up and you'll have to buy a whole printer again. It is cheaper to buy an aftermarket cartridge and there are many places that sells cheap yet high quality aftermarket cartridges for a refilling price. PM me if you need location recommendations.

How can printer and ink companies justify selling the ink for more than printers and ink together?

Companies are basically giving away their printers for their making price and making back the money with the ink cartridges. It's marketing and that is where the catch is. The first ink cartridge that comes with your printer are usually known to be the "trial cartridge" it may look the same as the one u'll see in futureshop or staples or any other places but the volume inside is indeed different. Some people will think "oh for that price i'll just buy another printer". Thinking like that is wrong, because if you're buying a new printer the ink cartridge that comes with it will only be the trial cartridge, it'll run out alot faster comparing to the full volume one. Also, the cartridges that are being produce in the market nowadays is getting smaller comparing to printers that are like 6 years ago.
ex.
a 6 years ago HP printer uses the cartridge 45(black) 78(color)
the black uses over 40ml of ink and the color is 12ml x 3
an average HP printer nowadays uses cartridge 92(black) 93(color)
the black uses 5ml of ink and the color uses 2.5ml x 3
the 45 cost $37.96 & 78 cost $45.86
the 92 cost $18.72 & 93 cost $24.96
It might actually seem like it cost less but the truth is, they're just making more profit out of you.

Pixma MP530 is a very nice printer and the quality is good too. The cartridges can be cheap if you know where to get em. PM me is the key lol.
The cartridges are basically same as the previous series such as the BCI 3e and 6. But the difference is that it is chipped. However the cartridges SHOULD still be refillable but will pop a low ink msg. Anyways, have you ever consider about getting the Brother AIO printers? I got my Brother 420CN with ethernet for like 59.99 when it went on special a couple months back. Their ink cartridges are so cheap(aftermarket) there is no point of bringing it to places like "Island Inkjet" for refill.

actually my personal feelings about brothers are mix.

as a buyer. yes the machine is cheap. but most of the time you will have to buy a Drum Cartridge after 4-6 toners. and it can cost you over $200 a Drum Cartridge. make sure you guys look into it first

oh btw I no longer work there but would still love to help out if anyone has any questions. sorry for not being on this thread for so long

Hey OP. I never did see an answer to my old question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry yes. there are refills out there but I dont recommend it.

say the defective rate is 10% for a black and white printer.

since you will be using 4 cartridges in the same machine. defective rate might jump to 35-40% and the print out would probably be crappy

(those are made up numbers btw)

Why do you hate brother's so much? My parents and I both own them. Theirs has worked great for years and gone through about 4 TN-460 toner cartridges without a drum change. At $75 for a 6000 page toner cartridge, that's a hard value to beat.

Although I must admit I haven't been as lucky. I'm getting 2 faint horizontal black lines on my pages, so I think the drum probably needs replacing. I've had it for 3 years, but it hasn't really been used all that much.

So is it just their reliability that you don't like? From a value perspective they seem to be top notch.

Whenever I see a brother laser printer at someones home I say what my friend told me to say.. "Ohh, Brother"...

hah .. 4 toners and having to replace a drum is pathetic .... every brother I work on has that same problem, they have a VERY low duty cycle ...

(different machine have a different temp to melt the toner. if they put in the right toner then you should have no problems using those refills) if they put in the wrong toner. some times you will smell burning, or if the melt temp is higher then what the machine gives. excess toner dust (from the toners that didnt melt) will be on the page.

I attempted to refill a Brother DCP-7020 cartridge, that was easy enough, but I used Xerox copier toner for the refill. The pages come up almost all black.

Can I just clean the drum with rubbing alcohol and get a real 80$ Brother cartrige?
Or do I have to get another drum/printer ?

I can't believe you use xerox copier toner to refill a brother. What makes you think they're the same? The texture and type of toner is different.
Anyways, no do not use rubbing alcohol because it will damage the drum.
Use a filtered vacuum and suck it clean, then use a really fine cloth or rag and gently wipe it. It should do the job.

I hope the OP is still around to give me some advice! :)

Ebay is your friend, but you can get a new one cheap at your local chinese toner or inkjet shop.

I think you use the BCI-3e series cartridges, am i correct? If that occurs there aren't really anything you can do other then replacing the whole printer.
Replacing the printhead is very expensive, probably cost you $80 from oem manufacturer, unless you buy one from ebay.
But first, have you tried replacing a new cartridge?
Do not use printhead cleaning too many times, because it is possible to make things worst.

If anyone here is looking for toner check out this place, I have been using them for years now and have never had an issue at all. The product is inexpensive, shipping is reasonable ($3.50US) and it's easy to do...

I have saved $100's of dollars using their toner. In fact, this thread was a good reminder for me to order a new kit. I have a Lexmark E232 (has been absolutely perfect btw) and the toner kit for it just cost me $23.16CAD shipping included. I have yet to be charged any duty or tax and it just comes to my mailbox.

No that is not exactly true.
However, if you bathe in cyan ink you'll become a "intel model"
if you bathe in yellow and cyan ink you'll become "the hulk"
if you bathe in magenta you'll become "hellboy"
ummm...yeah something like that...

Last but not least, if you DRINK the ink...well, remember how "red bull gives you wings". You'll really be growing wings!!!

Are they any good or should I return it and go with an HP original for twice the price? Should I expect less cartridge yield from the MSE than from the original HP?

I've heard stories about remanufactured toner go both ways but I've always been one to stick to original toner just because remanufactured toner just wasn't worth the cost (typically only 10-15% cheaper than orignals) until now...

Refilling toner at shops should save you up/more then 50% off. It shouldn't cause any problem at all and it shouldn't have less toner inside either. The drum is built in inside the toner so the worst thing that could happen is them refunding you the money and you go buy a new one. Also, when buying a remanfactured toner you should be saving about 30% of the cost. not just 10-15%. Go find a new shop, or order online.

but thats just me. for those people that have a busy life and their time is actually worth money. get the original and save yourself the headache

ya you need a new drum, you cant just clean the drum since the reason for the drum to be dirty is because it no longer can take a charge. so cleaning it will do nothing.

and maybe the toner you used killed the drum. since every drum is designed for different types of toner powder

I paid around $48 for the MSE while the HP toner is around $90+tax. Would you go for that deal? Really, I'd like to know because I'm still a little indecisive as to whether I should return it or not.

Also, is there any wear and tear on the printer if I go with the MSE toner? Does the toner make any difference to the life span my of printer?

Does toner expire? I'm still on the original toner on my printer and I picked up the MSE as a spare just in case I run out in the middle of an important job. Is there any harm in keeping it as a spare?

Hi Supershyguy!

thanks for all the help you provided to RFDers so far :)

I got a particular question. I searched the web quite a lot and could not find any study (serious or amateur) showing the differences between each major ink companies.

Do you know of a website that would show such a thing? like..

brother's LC51 pages per cartridge vs HP's / Canon's / Epson's and Lexmark's.

I created a comparison table based on the data I could get from the internet but most of this data is just about what the brands claim to do..

I would really need some kind of all in one comparison table showing once and for all who is GENERALLY the quickest to print / have the highest quality / lowest cost per page / lowest noise level.

if you feel like it, I would like to send you my own comparison table so you can take a look, highlight the stuff you disagree with, and point out what you do agree with! :D

waiting for a reply, thanks!

note : I'm always refering to low-cost printers (<200$) I dont really care about the more expensive ones...

Well that's a pretty big knock against Brother in my mind. So the HP 3390/2 is the frontrunner again, anyone else any personal experience with this?

One feature that I thought was nice on the Brother was it can scan or copy single-sided paper from the Automatic Document Feeder and produce double-sided output automatically. Saves papers and trees! I'm not sure if the HP 3390 has this feature?

Can anyone confirm this feature exists or doesn't exist on the HP 3390?

Hi

I bought a HP laserjet 3030 about 18 months ago. It has been used very lightly (maybe 200 pages total)

It now has ghost printing (everything is double printed, first normal print, followed about 1/2 page down with faint 2nd print) I have performed a half test to see if its the fuser or the toner cartridge. It seems to be the cartridge.

I am really diasppointed since the use has been so low

Is this a common problem with HP. If so I'd rather save the $100 that a new toner will cost and buy a new multifunction

Our Canon i960 has run out of ink and I either need a source to replace the cartridges, or buy a new printer if it is worth it.

We use this printer for both document and photo printing. I have the need to print 11 x 17 now and will either replace this printer or get a B&W laser to print the large format.

Q: Should I keep the i960?

If I'm keeping then who do you suggest I purchase replacement cartridges from in Toronto or online? The ink must be of equal quality to OEM.

If I'm not keeping, what printer should I replace it with and what could I sell the i960 for?

is this thread still active?

I haver a Brother DCP-7020 that takes a TN-350 cartridge.

I bought a (supposedly) original Brother cartridge about six month ago to have a replacement when the original cartridge runs out and also to have a cartridge that can be refilled.
As I understood it one can't easily refill the starter cartridge.

So now, the starter cartridge is finished and I installed the new Brother cartridge. The printer doesn't recognize it, basically says there is no cartridge.
Called Brother - they wanted the S/N of the new cartridge. Brother rep tells me the cartridge is three years old and has probably been refilled with the wrong toner and therefore does not work.
Does that make any sense?
The replacement cartridge came in a Brother box and was sealed. The sealed bag indicated TN-350 on it, but not Brother.
I wonder if I fell for a scam here.

And how can you tell the difference between a starter cartridge that you cannot refill and a regular cartridge that you can refill?

Are you sure you need a special driver with Vista?

I use a Mac and I just plugged it in and everything, printer and scanner, worked perfectly.

As far as the starter cartridge is concerned, the printer was bought August last year and I did a fair amount of printing on it.
Much better than an ink-jet printer - blacker blacks and much crisper.

I also just found a replacement cartridge in Toronto for $28.00, hopefully it will work out OK. They are usually $40.- and up.

Today the seller sent me a follow up email to make sure everything was OK. I haven't seen that too often.

I'll wait a few more days to see how the cartridge performs before I post more details on the seller - probably in a new thread.

Which model of Epson is it and how old is it?

New printers are often no more expensive than just buying a new set of cartridges for the existing one.

But you can also try to fix the printer you have. There are special Epson cleaning kits available specifically for this problem. They may or may not work depending what the problem is.
Something like this one:

That seems to be a very inexpensive printer but it's expensive to run

http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/alldeals/comments/hp_deskjet_f2140_print_copy_scan_all_in_one_1999_t hesourceca/

How much printing do you do?
I switched to a laser for my black and white printing now that these printers have come down to way below $100.-
And once you have moved past the starter toner cartridge, you can refill cartridges a few times extremely inexpensively - 2500 pages for less than $10.-

I tried refilling Epson print cartridges once. I ended up with a mess and gave up on that. went back to buying ink-jet compatible cartridges.
For this printer the b & w cartridge seems to be around $15.-. If you only go through one a year I would stick to buying a cartridge, otherwise think consider an alternative printer.

i know its expensive to run this inexpensive printer but i bought it for scanning and copying purpose too. I dont do a lot of printing and even if i do it is b&w. too bad i missed on the brother laser printer at tscc. The only problem is..i cant get thru the idea of spending 15 ~ 18 bucks on a $20 printer i.e why i was thinking of refilling

krs,

About driver for Vista that was what I was told.

If your replacement cartridge works out, can you please post it or PM me where you got it from.

Thanks in advance

Well, I have been using this $28 cartridge for a while now and it's working just fine.
Service from this place in Toronto has been outstanding. Shipment was quick.

What was outstanding is that they try to help me "fix" my original OEM cartridge that doesn't work and then even following up with emails if their proposed "fix" worked.
One hardly sees service like that today - way above my expectations!

I'm going to start another thread about this place:

Hi,

I'm trying to decide between two multifunctions and I'm just stuck.

- Samsung SCX-4828FN => $250
- Canon imageCLASS MF4690 => $300

It's basically for home usage.
@Home -> Networked & updating to Vista 64bit soon.

The Samsung seems to have better resolution and slightly better features but I know Canon is a good name with printers.

If you have any advice on which to choose or any other recommendations, that would be appreciated.
Also info with regards to their toner replacement would be good too.

i dont mind recycled cartidge etc, long as it works. best one i found so far is re-inks.com selling it for $43cdn where as staples/futureshop etc sell them for $80.

Hi,

I'm looking for a Laser Color printer that has decent quality picture, but have relatively inexpensive and easier to find replacement ink. Speed is not that big of a factor, so ok speed is fine. Is there a brand or a certain line that can satisfy my need?

Thank you!

PS: I currently have a HP LaserJet 1600 and it takes 4 inks costing around 80$ each.

Color lasers are all expensive; consider printing mostly black and white and only switch to full color mode when necessary.

OP, does the HP p1005 laser printer have a build-in "kill" function on the machine or the drum to prevent further use regardless of the actual ink status, or machine capabilities?

My Question:

I need refill toner for a Brother tn360 Laser cartridge.

The refill bottle is 90g.

Can I use toner for a Brother tn580 Laser cartridge instead?

The refill bottle is 180g. (I would use half, obviously!)

I mean, they are the same toner right? Just a bigger bottle, right?

Thanks.

My Samsung ML-1060 monotone laser printer is making a loud noise on the left of printer. Whenever I turn on the printer, it does heat up and the roller or paper feeder won't work.

I think the noise is the paper feeder or something else? Do you know about ML-1060 or what the problem is? Or if I could take apart to fix it?
