View Full Version : Rogers is screwing me over on my warranty

Well I brought my brother's W600 in to get fixed as the volume keys seemed to be jammed and now sits flush with the phone. Also, it may be a software problem as well because when he adjusts the volume, it also changes songs.

So I went to Rogers Video, dropped it off and waited a month before I got it back. I pick it up, stick in the card, and low and behold, they fixed nothing. So I'm wondering what to do now...take it back to them and give them an earful? Or go directly to Sony? I was on the Sony site, but they seem to only indicate that they'll offer you warranty if you have an invoice issued by Sonystyle. Any suggestions as to what I should do? My brother had this phone for less than a month before it crapped out on him. It's normal wear and tear, not him dropping it and stepping on it. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the technician that 'worked' on my brother's phone clearly also doesn't know how to use a screwdriver. One of the hex screws under the front faceplate is completely shredded and I can't even open the damn thing. Now if I send it back, they'll think I did this.

are you talking about the volume keys on the side?

if i remember correctly, the volume keys on the outside are supposed to change tracks when in the music mode. i don't own a SE walkman phone so i'm not sure completely sure if this is the way it's supposed to be but i specifically remember reading something about this on the w810i model.

did they fix the volume keys being flush with the phone?

Nope, they haven't fixed it. At the store, they said that they changed the keypad, but nothing specifically about the volume control. It's still flush as of now.

I own a W810i, but the volume keys don't change the songs for me. Just volume.

ok just read something about the song change thing. if you hold down the volume key it will go back or forward.

you probably should have checked it at the store before bringing it back. anyway i would suggest going back again since they didn't fix what you asked them to fix.

Yeah, it's not that he holds it; then the volume will change, just one press and it'll change songs.I wish I tested it out, but my brother was out at the time and had his SIM card with him, and I was in a rush so I didn't bring the battery along. Maybe I should bring it back to Rogers, but it's not like they'd give a sh*t. Would it be better to take it up with Sony themselves since they're the ones fixing it anyways?

are you suggesting bringing it to the sony repair center or a sonystyle store?

i have a feeling if you bring it to a store they might just tell you to go back to where you bought it. i'm assuming they only handle repairs for phones that were bought through them and not a wireless carrier.

also check out howardforums.com and post in the rogers thread. they have more cell phone knowledgable people there as well as people who work at rogers stores so you might end up getting the info straight from the source.
