I've been looking into a reasonable price agp video card lately.
I know that 6600GT is better then 9800PRO but how much better is it exactly?

Also, how is 6800 against 6600?

Enough to justify the price difference between the two. I don't undestand, this is not exactly a comparison. You can pickup either card used for extremely cheap (under $100). It's really not worth the effort considering for $10 bux more you can buy the 6600GT over the older and slower 9800pro.

The 6600GT edges the 9800 Pro in almost every stat on paper, and has a 3DMark05 score that's 680 points higher. Plus the 6600GT supports SM3.0. Enough said!

9800 = Old. 6600 = Newer

I'd go for the 6600 hands down, wouldn't waste the money on a 9800, 6600, or 6800, but would save up for a Conroe system with DX10

If using the 9800, don't go for the 6600.

go for something better, the 6600 is outdated already.

its roughly 30% faster at stock driver qualities iirc. Choosing between the two is a tossup between faster frames & shimmering vs a slower card. I'd personally choose the 6600GT

:D For sure 6600GT.
6600GT will work on New window Vista and 9800Pro won't.

So it is easy to choose.

huh..ur contradicting..

wont waste on money on 9800 or 6600 and then in the begining u said..u would go for 6600..

I am pretty happy with $65 I spent on my 9800 pro AGP. Bought it off an RFDer as most of the newer cards are PCI-E

What are you basing that on? Typical RFD more $$ = better ignorant BS.. lol

9800 Pro got me 4.9/5 on Vista performance index. If you are not maxing out the FPS @ high rezes and using extreme apps, 9800 pro is more than enough for mid-range user.

Specially for Vista, its 4.9!! Perfect for it. Aero is so slick on it.

Another question, For newer low end video cards out there are they comparable to these 2 cards?

current generation that are as fast or faster than 6600GT:

7300GT (especially the GDDR3 version)
7600GS (the powah!)

X1600PRO
X1600XT.

FYI: If you dont have much $$$, the 7600GS is the absolute best bang for the buck for around $100.

Like. I mean if it absolutly necessary, go for the 6600, but imo I wouldn't buy any of those.
