Thanks for your hard work. Your weekly posts are very useful.
Also this week they are selling the CT house brand Formula 1 Full Synthetic Oil, 4 liters for about 16 bucks. Good deal if you like synthetic.

Thanks to all supporters of this thread!
It seems posting with new design is more difficult and takes more time...:(
Hey ag2000... have you considered making the posting in an external HTML editor and just pasting the HTML in after the fact (using the BB being/end HTML tags)
It might make it easier.. I duno?

Hey ag2000... have you considered making the posting in an external HTML editor and just pasting the HTML in after the fact (using the BB being/end HTML tags)

Thanks for the suggestion brunes, I may actually try it....
I meant new CT site design, not RFD design, where you can no longer go through each page of online flyer to look for deals, they have separate sections instead.
So external editor will not help here....However it may help with another issue with minor RFD design change, and I've learned about it hard way :
When some program opens new URL in the same window where posting is being created (I have RSS feedreader for example which uses current active window to display the content) with previous RFD design you could press "back" button and save or continue your unfinished posting.
With new design content of posting is totally lost after pressing "back button" (I found out about it by losing my 90% complete posting on friday). To be exact this is not a design issue and I am not even sure it can be changed but I think it is good idea to mention about it so someone else does not repeat my mistake.
So at this point I am "backing up" posting time to time anyway, and external editor sound like a good idea from this standpoint...
I have another idea : if many RFD'ers also think that CT should continue to provide "full view" of their online flyer, send your feedback to customerservice@canadiantire.ca and tell them that you like to browse through all pages of their online flyer without going back to main page with categories, like it was implemented in old CT site design. ;)

I think this is a great deal.
Keep in mind you can turn the hammering action on and off. So you get a powerful corder drill with case, and a set of unusual bits like masonary etc...
As a bonus you have a hammer drill if you ever need it.
I also grabbed the rake, which works really well for 6$ INMHO. Better then the rakes I used to use at my folks house
I also grabbed some of ag's recommended Jobmate tool sets yesterday as well for 10$ each. These fold up really nice and would be ideal to store in your trunk to have on hand. I may keep these or gift em.
Another reoccuring deal is the 4 pack tie down set for 10$, reg 27$ I think. I don't think they have been this cheap before. You get 2 ratcheting and 2 sliders. Very handy again to store in the car.

The cutter disc pack for the angle grinder is an excellent deal as well. I think I am going to go pick that up even though i have no foreseeable need for it atm...
Last year I had to cut through a bunch of cement in my basement, and I went through about 10 of those discs at 3-4 dollars a pop.

That is exactly how i look at it. I get jigsaw and sabre saw blades, drill bits on sale for 60 or 70% off. I probably have more then I'll ever need, But when they break at that price I hardly care, especially when I have some on hand. If I had to go pay full price when I actually need them, I would die. Well maybe not .... but almost
One other deal I forgot, the gracious living drawer on whels for 20$. this has been on before, but keep in mind thi smodel has 5 drawers i believe. I have a few of these now and since storage is so ridiculously priced these days these are very good value in my opinion.
As an idea I just built a garage, and instead of spending several hundred dollars on "professional" tool boxes of steel, i may just get a bunch of these things. Good for small and lighter stuff, and put the heavier tools on a shelf or hang them up.

It seems posting with new design is more difficult and takes more time...:(
I tried to read the flyer on the website on Friday and it's a total pain in the ass now. I just sent them an email to ask them to bring back the way it used to work. I would encourage everyone who enjoys these Canadian Tire threads or uses the CT website to do the same.
You can e-mail them at customerservice@canadiantire.ca, or you can fill out a feedback form online at https://ctsupport.canadiantire.ca/customer_service.html
Let's see if we can use the "RFD effect" for something besides wiping out stock :)

Anybody have any comments on the Jobmate rotary tool kit?
I got the Jobmate kit a few months back when it was on sale without the fexi shaft. Its one of those tools I don't use very often but every now and then it really is the tool you need. Changing the bits is a bit fiddly. If I was doing accurate wood carving on a regular basis I would want something better but for my type of use this has worked out well.

This hammer drill is crap. I saw a few of these come back broken every weekend when I used to work at crappy tire. If you buy one KEEP THE DAMN RECEIPT! Even better, DONT BUY ONE!
No kidding....bought one on Saturday, used it today on the hammer setting to drill a hole in my brick wall. Now it makes these horrible grinding noises everytime it runs, and the chuck magically unscrews itself.
Oh well, back it goes tomorrow...I wonder how many times I'll exchange it in the next 3 years (the warranty period)...

any comments on the Obus Forme heat and massage car seat cushion?
I got one as my job is mobile. I got one about 3 years ago, and the bottom part is worn out and gets those little cotton ball-frizzies. I guess from my butt sliding around. I use it everyday and it's never failed. Plus if you never use it in the house, there's a 12v 2A transformer (not switching, unfortunately) for you to use.
The heat only comes on when you're sitting on it, but it makes a good butt-warmer in the winter. It takes a few minutes, but yeah, it works.
You have four massagers, upper back, lower back, left and right thighs. I don't know what the thigh ones are for, but I'm a male. :cheesygri

I'm not very fond of that hammer drill. I dont think hammer drills are a tool you can cheap out on

so if anyone likes the brand better, or wants slightly cheaper batteries (in terms of $/battery), your local wallyworld should have a bunch avail.

Hmmm a little concerning ont he negative feedback on the thread. I'll have to play with it and see. At first I assumed ont he returns that people used it past it's limitations. But RD user said drilling through brick busted it up.
The thing to keep in mind is this: I asked the guy installing A/C that drilled through foundation how much he paid for his drill. He said he got it used at a good price and retail was several thousand dollars, but he has had it for 20 years. Same as everything.... you get what you pay for. That is why there is pro tools at much higher prices.
But I would have hoped it can provide some sort of hammer drill functionality, but the stories here make you wonder.
I wonder if the deal iss till good, if you just buy it as a powerful corded drill... have to think about it.
On the birght side ... 3 year warrenty ;) How many can you get int hat period

i believe a hammer drill is to drill into concrete and hard surfaces. It is like a regular drill except you can make it pound the surface with your drill bit (vibrate). This supposidly makes drilling easier.

For the RIM cleaner, do you just spray and it'll be cleaned?
remember, spray on dry rims, let it sit for a couple min, then hose off. it does help loosen most of the brake thick brake dust, but for really bad rims, only a polishing with a somewhat abrasive compound will get off the stains.
be careful though, it depends on what type of rims you have.
my method is to use a rim wax every season. my rims look BRAND NEW every time i wipe them down. they don't even need to be wet. rim wax forever.
secret of the pro's!!! Someone shared with me, now im sharing with you guys. i never use rim cleaner. NEVER!! no need :D:D:D
(oh, and if your thinking its just my pads or something, you should see my stock rims. ewwww)

If you travel often - you will need heavy duty one, like Swissgear that comes on sale once in a while as well. ;)

I don't think it's either of those. AFAIK it's some chinese company that makes tools just for hardware stores. The kawasaki drills at costco are almost identical to mastercraft, for example. I suspect that rona tools might be made by the same people because of some similar features... but that's just a guess.

They definitely will - if you are not satisfied with the product and especially if you will bring up this safety reason (it makes you sleepy). Just make sure you keep all original packaging and receipt. However I think you will find out much faster then 90 days if you like it or not. ;)

Actually even the big names (Makita, Bosch, Hilti, Dewalt, etc.) make their stuff in China. It's not really about the country of manufacture, it's about the quality built into the design. It's no surprise that you pay more (sometimes a lot more) for quality parts used in a quality design.
